As a Chemical Engineer, I'm almost embarrassed to write this review. I bought this heater to replace a forced air heater that uses resistance heat to heat coils. The reason for replacing it is I had to turn it off when I was recording my podcast because it's so loud. When I turned on the radiant heater, it was silent. Just what I was looking for. I bought one that's larger than I need for my office based on the specs on the website. But I was still cold, hours after turning it on. I kept progressively turning the thermostat up until I had it on maximum. Sitting right next to it, I could feel a little warmth coming off of it. But my office remained uncomfortably cool. When I left my office for lunch, I closed the door, which I had had open the entire day. Upon returning to my office, an hour later, I found it toasty warm. The heater I had replaced blasted out hot air and did a great job of heating my backside, which was facing it. Radiant heat takes longer to warm the space and does it differently. No need to go into the details. Leaving the office door open was my mistake. Now, for the not so great parts about the heater operation. The setting to control the number of fins it uses is pointless to me. I just turn it all the way up and control the temperature with the knob that goes from minus to plus. It doesn't have a temperature scale on it. So, you can't choose to set it to say 72º. You can control the wattage it uses from 600 to 1500 W. But the manual doesn't say why you wouldn't just leave it at the maximum. If you haven't had a radiator-type heater before, there are pros and a con. The pros are 1.) It's silent. 2.) It's more energy efficient. The con is, it takes quite a while to warm the room.

For a little machine it heats up very quickly which is nice, but after reading the directions I still don't completely know how to use it. There is a thermostat knob on the left and a "fan" knob on the right. On the fan knob, there is a roman numeral 1 and a roman numeral 2 along with the fan icon and the off icon. I know how to use the fan and off icon but the roman numerals confuse me. In the directions, it does not explain what those symbols mean. After trying out both roman numeral settings I decided roman numeral 1 meant hot and roman numeral 2 meant hotter, which is weird since they are on the fan knob on the right (as said in the instructions). I have yet to make the thermostat knob change temperature but it is the only way I have found to turn the heating aspect of the heater off. This being said even though I'm still not sure if I'm using it right or how it is intended to be used it does its job. I keep it under my desk and it heats up my feet. The roman numeral 1 setting is what I always keep it on because roman numeral 2 is too hot. But in that setting, it heats up fast and blows the hot air out. I bought it because my feet and legs get cold when I'm doing homework and this heater did the trick. You also pretty much can't beat the price. This heater also has a safety feature and will turn off if it falls over. I have never needed to use this feature since I leave it under my desk where it can't really get knocked over, but If you had this out in the open the feature would a=be necessary because the front gets very very very hot especially when on roman numeral 2. Overall it's pretty much exactly what I expected for the price, and it does serve its purpose.

Purchased a smaller version and it heated nicely for the size. This one is twice the size and basically doesn't heat for than a couple a feet away. l Purchased two and returning both.

I had a tough time figuring out the instruction book on how to put the casters on, but there's a video with the product description on Amazon that made it simple. It seems to work just fine putting out heat steadily.
