The media could not be loaded. Great value for the money! video shows person at 470 yards during the daytime at the end of my street as calculated by calcmaps.com I never had the taipan v1 but i heard this has lots of improvements over the original from what I saw online with a replaceable battery and higher res screen. This 15mm version has a wide field of view and still has great image quality. The thermal sensor on this is most likely <20mk netd as advertised, because another thermal (rix k2 pocket) side by side just looks so washed out , but this monocular still provides a great contrasty image in the same conditions. VERy sensitive thermal device, will not let you down. can see lots of detail when other devices just cant see the temperature differentials in the environment. This should do very well in adverse conditions. This device will hang when it first boots up , like it wont let u record and the manual sensor correction wont work for a few seconds, but the control interface is easy, screen is high resolution, and the agm app works well for downloading the captures and streaming the view from the device onto your cell phone. love the 50hz sensor and screen, smooth motion. my minor cons: diopter adjustment easily shifts, wish it was stiffer and could keep a set adjustment. close focus isnt quite 1.5m as advertised. more like nearly 3 meters (not a problem for outdoor usage) non focusable objective (biggest dealbreaker for me) Get a phone thermal for 200-300 dollars if you want to use a thermal close range indoors, this taipan hunting monocular isn't for that, this is for longer range spotting of wildlife and people. I can easily spot people from >450yds with this all the way down my street and in the fields of my girlfriends with deer. Great thermal

This thing picks up heat signatures from a chipmunk at 40+ yards. Not perfect on clarity but really good. Comes with two rechargeable batteries and a charger, bag for storage and batteries have plastic storage cases. You can't beat this for the price. If I had the need for 2, I'd buy it.

The day this thermal monocular arrived, I had no idea it would be put to the ultimate test before the box even cooled from the delivery truck. We had a newborn baby boy goat who somehow got separated from his mother on our 42‑acre farm. One moment he was tucked safely beside her, and the next he was simply… gone. Anyone who has lived this life knows that sinking feeling—the way the world suddenly feels too big, too dark, and too cold for something so small and fragile. A day‑old kid doesn’t have much time on his own, especially after sunset. We grabbed flashlights, called out, checked every corner of the barn and pasture. Nothing. The panic was real. Out of sheer desperation, we opened the brand‑new AGM Taipan V2 10‑256 we had just received. We barely even read the manual—just powered it on and stepped into the night. What happened next felt like a miracle. The moment the Taipan warmed up, the darkness transformed. Instead of guessing, hoping, and stumbling, we were suddenly looking at a world outlined in heat. Trees, brush, and shadows faded away, and anything alive glowed like a beacon. Within minutes, there he was—our tiny boy—curled up alone, completely invisible to the naked eye but shining bright through the thermal lens. nice entry point thermal. plan on using this primarily for mostly medium to long ranges (80-300 yards) for detection and PID at closer range. Fixed 3x can be a challenge inside 20 yards. nice wide FOV perfect for pasture scanning. zoom is not super helpful as digital zoom gets pixelated heavily. overall a nice price point to get started in thermal handhelds.

I received the AGM Global Vision Taipan V2 Thermal Imaging Monocular and it was clearly used, despite being advertised as new. The outer box came inside a sealed plastic bag, but the box’s side seals were already broken, which doesn’t match a new, factory-sealed product. When I opened it, the user manual was missing, and the battery charger screen was scratched, which is another sign this wasn’t new. Most importantly, there was no information in the listing/announcement indicating this was a used or open-box item. USED ITEM. NOT NEW. I would not have purchased it if the listing had been accurate.
