I am relatively new to tattoos and until now have been pretty horrible about taking care of them. I used that dreadful greasy stuff on my first two tattoos and because it was so greasy and non absorbing it would get on everything and I found that even though it kept my tattoos nice and hydrated during the healing process, I was loathe to use it. No one told me about the itching stage of tattoos and oh my god did I go nuts with the itching. My first tattoo I wanted to rip my skin off. Between the itchiness and that greasy ointment I was ready to scream. How is it that so many people have tattoos and no one talks about the itching? My friends don't have tattoos and they all think I am nuts for getting them. Of course the question I get most often is "didn't it hurt?" NO, IT DIDN'T HURT! But I want to scream "but it itches like a mother________" That's the real problem. After my fourth tattoo session (I'm just building on the original tattoo) someone recommended this after inked product so I gave it a try. Oh My God, what a difference.... It is not at all greasy, absorbs into the skin and leaves the tattoo hydrated for hours. HOURS! My tattoos look richer and brighter than ever, and my new tattoo healed with hardly an itch and it was the largest tattoo section of all of them. Unbelievable. Truly unbelievable. I never would have imagined the side benefit of limiting the itchy phase to practically non existant. BOTTOM LINE: Maybe it seems a little bit pricey for what you are getting but believe me it is absolutely worth it. Non greasy, a little bit goes a long way, absorbs into the tattoo and keeps it moist, can be used immediately after tattooing and during all phases of the healing process, AND KEEPS THE ITCHY PHASE TO A MINIMUM. I have this and the tattoo goo lotion, and I switched between the two because the TG has an anti itch ingredient and I was suffering bad. I love this stuff. It’s easy to spread, it’s creamy, and it makes my tattoo look amazing. It’s not scented but my dog loves the scent anyway and always tries to lick it off my hands. I always use it after I do my skincare and it’s a good way to remember that you should be taking good care of your tattoos always ... show more

Since I’m someone who has sensitive skin, I don’t normally use scented lotions. I recently bought this After Inked lotion to try since it had so many great reviews & it claimed to be Non-Irritant & Non-Allergenic. I do like the scent, I like how it doesn’t stick to your clothes, it drys fast, & leaves your skin feeling moisturized for a few hours. For me personally this lotion did a good job AFTER the tattoo already had a little over a week & a half to heal from when the tattoo was originally done. But I don’t recommend using it as the immediate aftercare product if you’re someone who has sensitive skin. Obviously everyone is different with how their skin will react, so if you’re curious about trying this product just be aware it’s possible that your skin may or may not react. If you’re adamant on using it & have sensitive skin, I recommend trying it on a small area of a fresh tattoo just to see before applying it on the entire tattoo. From my personal experience when I tried applying it to my new all around forearm tattoo, the entire tattooed area felt like it was burning & my entire forearm started turning red from the reaction. I ended up washing it off & just used Aquaphor. The downside to Aquaphor is that it has a thick consistency that sticks to clothing and can be annoying to remove when washing your hands, but it does a great job with tattoo aftercare. I did try using this After Inked product on my other new shoulder/upper bicep tattoo that already had a little over a week & a half of healing time done. My skin there didn’t have any negative reactions to the After Inked lotion & I didn’t experience any burning sensations. ... show more

I’ve been getting tattoos for over 10 years, and this is the best and fastest healing process I’ve ever had. I’ll never use anything else again. I have dry skin due to thyroid disease, but a little goes a very long way. It really relieves the itching. I had no itching on a recent shoulder piece and only minimal itching on a hand/wrist piece.
