I don't write many product reviews, but I feel compelled to do so with this product. First, it's going to arrive in 4 or 5 boxes, which will seem daunting until you begin assembly. They are boxed in such a way that you can lay each box out, easily see your parts and assemble quickly. Secondly, I was nervous about the quality of a sight-unseen furniture purchase, but was pleasantly surprised. The construction feels very very sound and seems to be solid wood (says legal Indonesian lumber, not sure the species) everywhere except the drawer bottoms, which is fairly typical of furniture at practically any price point. The finish is also flawless (adequate and even coverage of ALL components, with no runs or drips anywhere) and seems to be pretty durable, as it withstood trips from garage floor, pinballing in doorways and assembly faux-pas. I almost gave the product 4 stars, because the drawers are trundle-style and do not actually attach to the bed frame itself, but that's not an item or quality issue. Plus, it's actually beneficial if you want to rearrange the room at some point (you don't have to remove and reinstall drawers on opposite side). Bottom line, this is a great product and I would 100% buy again. I will update review if it doesn't hold up as well I expect. ... show more

I really like the fact it is made of real wood and not manufactured or pressed "wood," which makes it very sturdy (I'm Male 285 pounds) so that was important! Disappointed that only one end has a footboard and the other end is completely open. In the pictures on the website, only the side with the footboard was shown, the other "open" side was not and I foolishly "assumed" it would have a footboard on EACH side. Very underhanded to not include a picture of the "OPEN" side of the bed frame. Also, the drawers are on wheels which roll ok on carpet but aren't always square when closing and as a result, the left corner of the drawer front cracked in half simply closing the drawer and the drawer hitting crooked since it is on wheels and not an attached rail to keep it straight. Also, the paint chips easily and the very very strong chemical smell of the all the frame parts lingered for about a week, even with the windows open when I purchased and assembled it this past summer! I do like the build quality overall though. Nice bolts were used on the drawers and the drawer bottoms are actually WOOD and NOT CARDBOARD so it can hold a lot of clothes with no problem and especially since the drawers are very large, which is fantastic! I did think that the same types of bolts and inserts used on the drawers, should have been used on the frame to attach to bed slats to it. Instead, the slats are screwed to the frame using included self tapping wood screws, which if installed improperly or to close to the edge of the frame, could easily cause a crack in the frame or a crooked miss installation of the screw, which could possibly cause the screw or wood to fail and the bed slats to collapse or slip down off the frame. I've had cheaper beds with steel female inserts in the wood frame for the bolts to screw into to secure the bed slats, so I think this was a cheap cost cutting effort that could have made a good bed frame even much better and more secure, especially if someone were to jump on or fall onto the bed. If the self tapping wood screws are screwed in properly, centered on the frame and straight, it is very sturdy. Overall I am satisfied with the frame and the fact it is ALL wood is a definite deal maker and I would definitely buy again! ... show more

    • Great bed at a great price for anyone needing an XL twin!

Needed an XL Twin for our 14 year old who is already 6'. I couldn't find an XL in furniture stores near me. I was a little nervous about purchasing online as I saw some negative comments regarding the quality of the materials and how long it took to put together. The bed came in 5 packages and all were adequately padded and packed well so there were no scratches, dings, etc. They even sent extra hardware in case any of it was damaged in shipping (it wasn't). The bed was extremely easy to put together (me and said son put together in less than an hour) and everything was solid wood except the bottom panel of the two under bed drawers. We used wood glue in the slots for the bottom panel to prevent it from sagging out in the future (we've had this happen with IKEA drawers before) and if you've put together IKEA furniture you will find this very similar and easy. Only piece of 'equipment' needed is a Philips head screwdriver (and the wood glue if you go that route). Bed is very solid and attractive, there were some minor blemishes in the staining but on areas that are not visible once the bed was put together. The bed was due to arrive after Christmas (Dec 28-Jan 4) but it came only 3 days after ordering it. I definitely recommend this bed. ... show more

We got two full size beds. We did the beds first and left the drawers for later. Took 45 minutes to an hour per bed. The drawers took less than a half hour per bed. One each of everything was labeled and there was extra hardware just in case. The instructions were easy to follow. All of this made assembly a breeze. It all seems to be well made though time will tell. Our drawers don’t close flush to the bed until you put the comforter down over them. I attribute that more to our floors not being perfectly level than anything with the bed. ... show more

    • Not exactly what you might think

The bed is a nice color and I wanted something with real wood instead of pressed particle board. The price seemed fair. However, note that it only comes with ONE enclosed end and two drawers along ONE side. I got it for my daughter who didn't want her cat hiding under the bed. You have to push the open side against a wall and the head part against another wall for it to be enclosed. Not what I had in mind. The drawers also sit on the floor, there is no track, which I did read before purchasing and took a chance that they'd work ok. I think it's a decent bed, but would have been better without cutting the corners that the manufacturer did. It should most definitely be enclosed on all four sides, in my opinion.
