It's a great little low powered diode laser that works well. Few things to note. The air assist pump is crap. Does it work, yes, but about as good as blowing on the material. I changed this out for a small compressor running at about 10-15 psi and it made a world of difference! As for the laser, runs well and power is good. Haven't noticed too much heat build up either.

Have returned two of these. I can get them to test fire with the direct power cable but I gave up trying to get this laser to fire on command. It will not accept a PWN signal of any kind. Both modules had something loose inside. I returned the first one thinking that it was obviously broken, but the second one also rattled on the inside when I took it out of the box so I thought maybe it wasn't a defect. However, after spending a lot of extra money on an adapter board and a new controller, I'm now returning the second one and will seek a different brand module. The packaging is quite nice, but I don't think these work. Price was too good to be true.

I’m always looking for ways to upgrade my laser engraver, so when this module came along, I grabbed it. It replaces my previous 5‑watt module with a 5.5‑watt unit. Half a watt may not sound like much, but it genuinely reduces cutting time because it requires fewer passes. It’s worth noting that you should focus on "output power," not input power, when comparing laser modules. The module includes instructions, though they’re not the best. If you already own a laser engraver, installation is straightforward. It also comes with several cables for connecting to your control board, but these are only needed for 24‑volt systems. If you have a 12‑volt machine like my Atomstack A5, it’s completely plug‑and‑play. Mounting was simple thanks to the multiple screw holes on the module. I attached it to my Z‑axis gantry without any issues, and that’s how you adjust the focus--moving the laser up or down. The kit also includes an air pump, hose, and power adapter. This “air assist” helps produce cleaner cuts and prevents smoke from depositing soot on the lens, which can reduce laser performance. Once everything is installed, you focus the module by raising or lowering the assembly. An aluminum spacer is included to set the ideal engraving height. For cutting, I prefer to focus halfway through the material. If your machine supports Z‑axis stepping, it can handle this automatically. Performance: The laser worked as advertised and matched the recommended settings in the manual. Black acrylic cut in a single pass at 100% power and 125 mm/min. Three‑millimeter birch plywood required about four passes at 200 mm/min. Of course, results vary depending on the material and setup. An important note that isn't covered in the manual is that a push button switch on the top of the laser module is the laser kill switch. If you accidentally leave this on, no laser will fire. My biggest disappointment was the air‑assist pump. It only delivers about 5 L/min, which reduced smoke marks but didn’t eliminate them. The included air hose was also too short for the Atomstack’s work area. I had to mount the pump overhead just to reach the toolhead across the entirety of the work surface. A longer hose would have helped. I eventually switched back to my old 38 L/min aquarium pump, which did a far better job of preventing scorch marks. Another issue is the tinted light shield. It sits very close to the work surface. While it’s good for eye protection, it limits the thickness of material you can cut—especially if you prefer to focus halfway through the stock. You "can" leave the shield raised, but that’s obviously less safe. Overall, I’m satisfied with the laser module itself, but the air‑assist pump is underpowered. A stronger pump would make a noticeable difference in cut quality.

The first one I ordered had a rattle and when power was applied, the fan didn't work, the laser didn't fire and the LEDs on the control board would flicker. The replacement one had similar issues except the fan did work, but the power switch on the control board was broken off. It had to have been broken when put in the box because the switch is not in the box. I give up on this brand of lasers. Don't waste your time or money on this garbage.
