Description

The Expedition Crocodile Gaiters will keep feet dry and comfortable in any weather and terrain. Designed like our award-winning "Crocs" but featuring thicker materials, our burliest gaiters are designed for extended mountaineering trips in extreme conditions. The three-layer construction features a GORE-TEX membrane for waterproof protection, a Cordura shell for crampon abrasion resistance, and a 420D packcloth lining for breathability. The double-stitched hook-and-loop front closure provides a secure fit, while the BioThane instep strap ensures a comfortable, customized fit. The large circumference is roomy enough for plastic boots and heavily insulated pants, providing complete coverage. For venturing deep into the mountains in harsh weather and extreme conditions, the Expedition Crocodile Gaiters are a must- have mountaineering accessory.

These are made for day-long backcountry trekking in deep snow and when so used will assure that once you have them on you will not have to think about them again. To make sure they don't loosen or let in snow they have buckle cinches across the top and the instep, and a sturdy hook/loop closure down the front. There is another, very beefy tab that secures the closure at the bottom to keep snow and flexing from working it loose and a flat brass hook to secure to the ring at the bottom of your winter boots. Heavy Cordura protects the bottoms and the surfaces where they might rub against each other. Gortex upper-outer for breathability. All of this is certainly overkill for a couple hours of shoveling (and there are inexpensive Chinese gaiters that are perfectly suitable for that) but for the right application I am unaware of a better product. I purchased these pants for hiking and working/playing in the woods and after a full weekend of wear I’m very pleased with them. They are comfortable and flexible, and the material seems very sturdy. I tried on size 6 and 8 and felt like I was in between sizes. The 8 fit well around the legs and hips but was huge in the waist. I ultimately decided to go with the 6 even though they were a bit snug around the hips, anticipating they would stretch a little with wear and I’m glad I did. I picked these up as basic protection for my pants when hunting in low thick brush that frayed a pair of jeans in a day. I put them through 13" of snow and 15 miles of thick brush and the only had one pulled thread. The buckles even wore through the chrome plating, but the fabric looked good as new. If you need tough gaiters that will last through anything you throw at them...buy these! ... show more

I bought these in 2018 & for got I had them. I used them for the first time this year, 2020. They worked great. I wore them during deer hunting season to see if they would work in creeks and & streams and they did great. I actually walked in a deep creek (over a foot of water) for about 20 yards and my paints or boots did not get wet. I wore 8 inch leather insulated Gore-text boots underneath. This combination worked as well as my rubber boots. Also, they are durable as I walked through thick under brush and briers and they did not rip. I am pleased and would recommend. These gaitors are awesome. I've own a pair for 5 years and have used them for ice-climbing, cross-country and backcountry skiing, snow-shoeing and even hiking in heavy brush. VERY durable. I love that they are very stiff fabric so they don't work their way down your leg as easily as softer gaitors. The under-foot strap is robust and durable. Edit: 1/4 Still apprehensive about the buckles but company finally came through with the warranty and offered a credit for a new pair. Hopefully the new set holds up as outside of the buckles, the gaiters themselves seem top notch and tough as all get out. —— Unfortunately like others, the gaiters themselves are great but the buckles broke within 3-4 trips. Seems to be a universal issue. W Company responded quickly after reaching out initially, asking to send pics because they have a “lifetime warranty” but after three messages and four weeks, there’s been no other response.
