  • A beautiful gazebo that can be set up, preferably with at least two people, within 6 hours
Size: 8' x 8'
This gazebo looked like just the thing for our backyard concrete-surfaced patio, beside a swimming pool. It fits up against an exterior stucco wall and the two rear posts have attachments that allow them to be fastened to that wall. The step-by-step assembly instructions are fairly easy to follow and the numerous components (mostly of sturdy steel) and hardware pieces (bolts, screws, etc.) are all labeled clearly. We installed the curtains only, not the mosquito netting, since in our area mosquitos are not a problem, and the edges of the roof along the front and sides have two rows of slots to suspend each type of covering. The only real shortcoming is the fact that the four posts have L-shaped plates that are meant to fasten them to the ground, with four holes each for a total of 16 holes, but for a concrete floor only 4 such bolts are provided -- and these are quite useless, being too flimsy to stay in place when inserted into drilled holes. We had to purchase heavy-duty concrete screws that were entirely satisfactory for the two forward posts (two screws per post); the rear posts did not need them as they abutted against that wall and were already fastened to it. The plastic roofing sheets (corrugated plastic, eight in total) need careful insertion and positioning, and this may require a wooden block and rubber mallet to avoid damage to the edges. Once in place, the gazebo seems to be very sturdy and did not shift at all in the offshore winds that tend to reach us each afternoon. ... show more

  • Assembly and stability
While this wasn’t the easiest gazebo to assemble, it definitely wasn’t the hardest either. It took about 4.5 people roughly 4 hours to put together. At a minimum, 3 people are likely required for assembly. The diagrams were vague, which didn’t help, and there were some missing or unclear instructions regarding washers. The instructions mention 32 waterproof washers, which were included, but 48 washers were actually needed. It’s unclear whether it required 24 plastic and 16 metal washers or 48 plastic washers in total. Since no metal washers were provided, I had to purchase 16 additional plastic washers to complete the build. The D bar on the A columns must face a specific way to properly mount the gazebo to the wall. The four holes should face outward (down toward column B). The two holes connecting the D bar to the wall bracket must face the ground. The brackets on the E bars also need to be positioned a certain way, though it’s difficult to explain precisely. This is a wall-mounted gazebo—you must secure it to a wall. The wall mounts feel very sturdy, and I have no doubt they will hold up well. I highly recommend anchoring it into concrete or wood for additional stability. Tools Needed: Power tools (highly recommended), Philips screwdriver, Rubber mallet (for inserting stubborn slats), Level (essential for proper alignment), Tape measure, Wrenches (3/8" commonly used), 7/16" Allen key (The provided one works, but a handled version is easier to use) This is a "start early in the morning" project due to the time and effort required. Despite some minor setbacks, it wasn’t overwhelmingly difficult. The gazebo is very stable, well-made, and looks great. Dimensions: Width: 13.18 ft Front Height: 6'3" Back Height (against house): 8 ft Depth: 9.75 ft Overall, it meets our needs perfectly, and we’re happy with the final result! ... show more
