    • Good rack for the price
The rack is a good value for the money. If you tighten it too much it will strip the nut. I added another nut to secure it. It looks good and so far, stays on. When you drive on the highway the air passing over the rack does increase wind noise. Overall, for the price .... not bad!

OK Im a machinist / fabricator, facts, it is steel, it has 1 3/4 with 1 5/8 tubing inside to adjust length of cross bars i believe .083 wall thickness ( very strong), MY CLAMPS are NOT bent correctly to allow proper clamping on the gutter, check pics, the gold colored clamp SHOULD be underneath the white upright when it is tightened.. NOW these are supposed to tighten with i believe it 6mm bolt ( 1/4") then the Bends in the white uprights are supposed to keep the clamp up tight. PROBLEM: the steel was not bent enough to function correctly, SOLUTION a vise and a heavy hammer to beat it into the correct bends. As the pics also show I am pointing to a 1/4" Bolt I installed AFTER I milled a slot to allow adjustment and then Tighten to further secure the clamp.. I DID THE MODS they DO NOT come this way.. Over all If I did not have the skill and equipment needed to make these racks Safe and Functional i would have returned them as defective.. FINAL THOUGHT, they are made in china, even though quality has improved on some things they sell, it seems it's a gamble weather you receive a QUALITY item, for the price its a good starting point if you can do the mods, OR you MAY luck out and get a unit that is correct either way I gave my honest review best wishes.. ... show more

Set screw broken on when I received product, had to drill out. There was welding over flow on cross bar holes had to chase out hole. If I had bought from a store would take back for refund. Contacted company and sent out a new rack. Customer service is great. And the rack is very heavy duty. Thank you new rack is perfect. A ... show more

Needed a cheaper, non-permanent, roof rack for surfboard transport. This is, sadly, made in China. It seems sturdy and, once assembled, easy enough to mount and remove. Assembly was straightforward. Interstate test run did not generate any noticeable increase in wind noise (full size van is not quiet to begin with). In addition to local trips, we do occasional 300+ mile trips. If need be, I'll update but so far looks good. ETA: 300 mile (each way) road trip without a hitch. Once everything is set up very easy to attach/ remove from the van. ... show more

The racks look good, I haven't installed them yet because they came with adjustable holes with temporary vinyl screws (heavy plastic) which broke during delivery and it was impossible for me to remove them, definitely the worst part

    • Sturdy With Modifications
Very well build but the clamping system is suspect. Plan on putting these racks on and leaving them, the fastener used for the clamping system is the weak link. In fact I had to repair one clamp because the fastener provided are such poor metal resulting in it stripping out. Also to make the installation rock solid, I drilled and installed a fastener at each clamp securing the clamp in place. Finally, paint quality is only fair and the inside of the tubes are bare metal.
