After too many frustrating camping trips trying to rig tarps without proper poles (which usually ended in sagging shelters or total collapses), I finally picked up this set of two tarp poles, and I’m glad I did. Right out of the box, the quality was clear. These poles feel very sturdy, and the 4-section adjustable design makes them incredibly versatile. Whether you need a low setup for wind protection or maximum height for shade, they adjust smoothly and lock securely in place. The locking mechanism especially feels top-tier: solid, reliable, and easy to use. At just 1.3 pounds each, they’re impressively lightweight, and collapsing them down to just over 2.5 feet means they’ll easily fit in a backpack or car trunk without taking up much space. The price is very comparable if not better to other alternatives. I also really appreciate the removable rubber caps that protect the pointed ends, great for safely anchoring tarps without tearing through material. This item is a 2-pack of heavy-duty, telescoping tarp/tent poles. They are pretty heavy and I wouldn't consider using them for backpacking. Nevertheless, they would be great for car-camping or "glamping." They use twisting design to loosen or tighten the telescoping links. Flik-lock would be better but keep them clean and you won't have much problem. Use caution for winter use because moisture will cause the twisting locks to freeze and lose adjustability. These are pretty heavy-duty poles with a nice rubber base like you'd see on a cane and a detachable rubber tip. If your tarp has a grommet or loop you can dispense with the rubber tip and fasten directly on the steel pin but if you don't have this the rubber tip is great for securing the tarp without poking a hole in the material. These poles would work with nylon, visqueen plastic sheeting, or canvas material.

I got these to replace another set of poles that were steel and heavy. I like the design that allows you to choose any height for the poles. They are lighter than the steel poles that I had but they are still heavy enough that they would only be used for car camping. The rubber tips are nice and actually stay on the tips really well, I expect they will keep the tarp on the pole in all but the windiest conditions. They do have a bit of wobble when extended, about 2" of total deflection at the center when compared to the tips. From what I've seen of other poles this is not unusual but also not the best that I've seen. Also the little rubber grips at the end of each section help a little but if you twist hard to set the pole they will spin so I just grab the pole itself to twist-lock it into place.

This is a quality set of Paul's extends easily locks into place all the tarp up nicely do appreciate the function of having the Caps to go on top of it which allow you to use a tarp or covering that does not have grommets in it without punching the metal ends of the poles through it. The carrying case is questionable and likely not to last very long but it is there overall I think this is a good value for the money and would let you set up a shelter for shade or mild weather quite easily so long as you have everything set up to stake it out and keep it working.

FOR EXAMPLE: POWDER COATED ALUMINUM ALLOY. (LIGHTWEIGHT, STRENGTH, DURABILITY & ANTI RUST). THERE IS JUST NO BETTER MATERIAL IN THIS CATEGORY. COMES IN 4 SECTIONS, NOT 3 (BOTH COMPACT & LONG LENGTH). FROM BASE TO TIP COLLAPSED 32" & FULLY EXTENDED 92" IN. YOU JUST WON'T NEED ANY MORE HEIGHT THAN THAT. THE FEATURE THAT ELEVATES THIS PRODUCT IS THE POLE LOCKING CAPABILITY. EACH SECTION CAN LOCK/UNLOCK INTO YOUR DESIRED LENGTH WITH A SHORT TURN OF YOUR WRIST OR ONLY A 1/4 TO 1/2 TURN/FLICK. THIS IS WHAT YOU WANT!
