  • Amazing quality and a must have
Having returned a dash cam before, I was hesitant when ordering this one but decided to give it a try since it’s well priced. What a different experience! Normally I don’t write review but I feel this one deserves a thumb up. Things I like about this product: 1. High quality design and packaging. I’m all about design details when it comes to my electronics. This product has the right look and feel – it sort of remind me of Apple products. 2. Easy to install. Let’s start by saying I’m usually not capable of installing anything myself (ikea furniture included). But this one is delightfully easy to work with. The mirror itself took a few clicks to put on. I took the previous reviewer’s suggestion of checking out youtube – definitely helped! That said, I solicitated hubby’s help to install the rear cam. I believe you can have your usual car guy fix it up there too for a small charge. 3. Functionality. This is a big one. I didn’t think I’d like replacing my back mirror with a screen at first – I’m a nervous driver to start with. But it’s no more complex than swiping back and forth on your GPS screen. And I immediately fall in love with the “all-view” era of driving! It offered me with clear, wide display of both back and front while driving, with very little interference of environmental light. It works better than my original back mirror in sun glare and at night. I stopped using my car’s original backup cam after installing Acumen because this offers me with wider view without distance inconsistency – in other words, it’s more intuitive and closer to what you would see with real eyes. This comes especially handy when you are trying to park a SUV in a narrow and crowded plaza. Word of caution: you might not be able to go back to a “normal” mirror after this. 4. Video/recording quality. I like the idea that you can adjust video length. The recording quality is quite amazing, it doesn’t leave any “ambiguity”. There had been theft incidents in my area. It gives me peace of mind to know that even when I’m parked, my dash cam will start auto recording if it senses motion near my car. Living in a metropolitan area = car accident-prone life. Again it’s peace of mind to know that I have backup proof for the insurance guys when accident happens. One thing I wish they had was a picture-rich instruction book. Reading small font is not my thing. Having pictures for installation would be a nice plus. But overall it’s a fantastic addition to my car and I already recommended it to my family. ... show more

  • Favorite Dash Cam
I’m not a car person so I took this dashcam to the closest car stereo shop I found on Yelp and had them install it for me. The price was reasonable and they did an amazing job hiding all the wires. At first I wasn’t used to the rearview mirror being a screen but after a week of driving I can’t drive without it. I found that my boyfriend usually puts the display on sleep when he drives my car. Great way to record everything that happened on the road and I love rewatching footages of our weekend road. The quality of footage makes it easily visible in the case of an accident. It’s also very easy to navigate through the different options. As a first time user of a dash cam, I will recommend this product to anyone I come across. ... show more

  • Good dashcam mirror
Had it installed by a car audio shop. Got mainly for the back up camera feature for my wife’s car (2014 Acura TSX) since it didn’t have one. Having the parking guidelines whenever we backup into a parking spot helps a lot. The dash cam features are great for both front & back cameras. One thing to note during daytime & it’s bright outside the rear view mirror image does get washed out so you to set the brightness at maximum. ... show more

  • Worked great until it didn't
Camera worked great from 3/2020 to 11/2021 until it started shutting itself off immediately. Tried various resets between using the recessed reset button and the power button and applying power. The power button on the thing has never been good. Barely touch it and it will turn on or off depending on its current state. Now the button will not "un-press" - causing the immediate shutdown of the unit. Removing the power button released the switch behind it and the unit will now stay on but of course now I have to remove the power to shut it off. The unit itself is very heavy and causes the mirror to tilt down. If I could go back and do it all over again I would go with a different product. ... show more

  • Works well for what it is
Pretty straight forward, easy to install, and works well. The automatic sensor is EXTREMELY sensitive, it pretty much continually beeps at EVERYTHING on the road!!! It's a useless feature because of that. I just turned it off and use it without the auto sensor. The unit is pretty heavy, as it keeps weighing down my rearview mirror it's attached to, so I'm constantly having to readjust it. The card slot is on the top of the unit, instead of the bottom, which is a pain, and you have to have long fingernails or tweezers to get the card in or out. The other problem is the lenses being "fish eye", which makes the images look like they are three times the distance farther than they actually are, which can be a hazard. The last problem is, you can't use it as a regular rearview mirror, because the glass is too dark. They should have had a top or bottom fixture to attach this unit onto the top or bottom of your regular rearview mirror, instead of over it. Other than that, it works very well. It has clear, sharp images, and I use my rear view on it for backing up sometimes. Worth the money? Compared to the price of other dashcams, yes. If you are looking for an inexpensive dashcam with a large display, then this is probably what you need. ... show more
