  • Good light, budget laptop
CPU: i7-1165G7 Style: 14" FHD
As a relatively inexpensive and light laptop, the Acer Swift 3 is pretty solid. It's not a heavy duty laptop and it isn't going to be a great option for gaming or video editing or anything that requires a lot of processing power, but as a general purpose laptop for surfing the web or watching YouTube videos it's going to be perfectly functional. It weighs in around 2.6-2.8lbs (my scale isn't very precise and the reading fluctuated between the two after several tries), which makes it quite easy to carry around without feeling weighed down. The construction feels about what I would expect for a computer in this price range, which is to say it's not top quality but it's not flimsy either. The keyboard is not overly clicky, although it is a bit louder than i would like. I am generally not a fan of laptop keyboards as I prefer a bit more responsiveness but all things considered it's not bad. The backlighting on the keyboard works well. The Cinebench score was a rather pedestrian 5000. But regardless of benchmarks, I have found it works perfectly well for my everyday needs. I can have a full-screen video running on one screen while surfing the web on another with no lag or hiccups. I keep several programs open all the time (including Chrome which is a serious memory hog) and the laptop doesn't have any performance issues. Considering the price point I am very satisfied with its performance. The one negative about the setup is that the RAM cannot be upgraded (I got 8gb and wanted 16gb but wasn't going to pay the ridiculous cost difference to buy it pre-installed). I also would have liked 1 more usb port, but 2 is pretty standard so it's not something I would hold against it. Overall I am very satisfied with this laptop. If you don't carry your laptop around very much you might consider looking around for other options because there are probably other more performant options around this price range at the cost of more weight. But if you want a portable, inexpensive laptop that performs well on common everyday tasks then this is a great choice. ... show more

  • Amazing for the price
The Acer Swift Go 14 fits all my needs and wants except for one: a built-in RJ-45 Ethernet port. Otherwise, it's the perfect laptop. Build quality is impressive, the display is absolutely amazing, the keyboard is nice with good backlighting, and the trackpad is smooth, soft, and accurate (though I wish it were a bit bigger). Performance is more than I'll need for quite a while because I use laptops for when I'm on the road for work, so almost entirely web-based tasks. This laptop is an incredible value and I can't recommend it enough. It deserves way more attention! ... show more

  • Good for the Price, Slightly above average laptop overall.
CPU: i7-1165G7 Style: 14" FHD
Pros: Price, battery life, overall performance, light weight, responsive fingerprint sensor, fast (so for no issues) Cons: PATHETIC PLACEMENT OF POWER BUTTON. I bet you're gonna press it numerous times mistaking for delete button. Same goes for a needless airplane mode button next to brightness button. Wonder how do they not notice while designing. Bad microphone and an average audio quality. Webcam is average too. So not a super we conference/zoom friendly device, but it does the job. Touchpad is below average. I also occasionally get glitches while streaming HD videos, but this is a minor issue. Built quality is average. I do not expect everything top notch for the price it's offered. I would, however, expect a slightly better microphone and touchpad quality. And ofcourse the damn placement of power button Overall if you're looking for a decent laptop that can do your regular office/school job with a pretty good batter, go for it. I wouldn't recommend it if you want a premium-type experience. I guess, price speaks for itself. ... show more

  • Great Laptop, Long Battery, Runs Linux Well
CPU: i7-1165G7 Style: 14" FHD
I bought this with the intention of running Zorin OS and never booting into Windows. So far this laptop has been great. The screen is very nice, the keyboard is decent, touch pad works well, I have never heard the fans, external GPU does work, and the battery is great; which is the main reason I purchased this laptop. In case anyone is interested in also installing Zorin, the camera login isn't working for me even after trying some workaround, webcam works but the hello windows alternative does not. I'll report back after some time, I think its just a driver issue. The finger print driver also does not work. There are some claims that some users were able to get this working but I have not been successful. I'm not really all that interested in those options but it would be nice to get the finger print device to work. For graphics, the Xe driver doesn't seem to work that well but I'm guessing that with some time, this will change. Overall, I'm super impressed and very happy with this purchase. I can't speak for Windows as I never let it boot before wiping out of the box, due to the systems specifications the bloat in Windows likely causes some resource issues. I imagine that this is what causes most of the bad reviews on this system, outside of hardware issues, hot tip, avoid manufacturer warranties, complain to amazon and get a new one shipped... I did end up buying another for a family member (50+) and installed Zorin on theirs as well, after a week they say its their favorite laptop ever so take that as you will. ... show more
