    • More than worth it!
I'm a writer. I have an old chromebook that I used faithfully until it expired. I had no idea these things could expire. It still works though, in fact it's what I'm using right now to write this review. Once I knew I had to buy another device, I did my research (By the way if you are buying a chromebook, note it is not like other computers. It has an expiration date, so even if you buy one listed as 'new' that doesn't mean it will work properly. The expiration is based on the date it was created not the date you purchase it). The chromebook I'm reviewing is phenomenal! It will expire in about 5 years though, which is fine for me since I was able to get the relevant data before purchasing. The biggest pro is that because these are created by Google, almost everything google offers is already included in it. There are tons of features so you can play around with it until you find what you want. For writers for instance, there is a built in timer and focus setting that plays ambient sounds/music in the background while you work. There's a built in dictation or voice recorder that allows you to say what you want and have it type it out for you. The screen will adjust for day and night settings to reduce the wear and tear on the eyes while working long hours. This model has the keys that are slightly raised (unlike the flat keys on most laptops) so it feels more like a computer keyboard than a tablet of sorts. The pricing was amazing. I got this one for $60 after tax so it was listed at $50 something. By my estimate that means I paid $10 a year since it expires five years from now, that's cheaper than dinner! lol The delivery was awesome! I bought this during black Friday (although this was not a black Friday sale price) but I wanted everything to come around the same time so I wouldn't have to wait around for it. Everything went smoothly with all orders arriving on the same day, all well packaged, the tracking kept me up to date and made for a super smooth transaction. In general response to other reviews I read prior to purchasing, the only thing I noted was the reference to it being super slow. I did not have that experience and can say it appears the speed (at least the one I bought - these are refurbished so more than likely a luck of the draw experience) is based on the type of net available. It works faster at home than in places where the internet services are shared among many other devices. I can say I am a very satisfied customer and would recommend this chromebook for anyone who needs a compact, sturdy computer that you would carry and use often on the go. The battery life is excellent (at least on mine) It recharges fast and lasts for a good part of the day. So the only real negative. I stated the best part is it's created by Google. That is also the only bad part. This has AI out the whazzoo! If you're trying to avoid having a baby robot listening in on you or occasionally telling you what to do, this thing could creep you out lol... I had to mute it until it got the memo that I don't need an electric boss lmao. Although I haven't used the 'gemini' that was included in it, I have had programs popping up that want to track my browsing, shopping, health etc. That's a bit much for me since I'm old school and still use paper and pen for things like that. Great Chromebook for the price. Perfect and fast with a good enough CPU for Linux. It has USBc ports so I can use the headphones aux or USBc ports for headphone input. I was skeptical of the charger because I got a error when I plugged it in but I didn't plug the plug in the little power box all the way, now it chargers really fast and gets full in about 1-2hrs. I installed Linux Zorin OS lite on it because Chromeos was pretty slow and web browser was not a good experience. Now everything is faster. So far, I use it to watch my own videos in it. I seldom use it on the internet. The videos are clear and sharp. The sound is good. When I use my word processor, it works well. The few web searches I have done were very fast. I got a message that this was my last automatic Chrome update. That is the only shame. I still am glad I bought it. ... show more
