Pleasantly surprised

Positives: It works. Looks nice and the bluetooth app controls were a nice plus. Negatives: Only 2 sizes available, power cable is less than ideal if your vents are high up. I got this fully expecting I might return it as I have read all sorts of negatives about "vent boosters". Our upstairs bedrooms are always 5-7 deg hotter than the main floor in the summer. We've done everything recommended (insulation, added bigger return, etc) and it's just how our 60yo house is made. The heat collects and that's all we got. I looked into a separate hvac system for the upstairs but that's $$$. A friend recommended vent booster fans. OK fine. I put a temp sensor in 2 bedrooms on the same side of the house. Both rooms stay about the same temp. After running the booster for about half a day, I found that room was only 1-2deg higher than the main floor. That was a huge difference, and I had the fan running at 70% to keep the noise down. The unit has a flow detector setting that turns the fan on when the hvac is blowing. It also has temp sensor activation (so you can run minimum/maximum hvac air flow temp activation) One cool feature is that the "off" setting can be tuned so the fan just runs at a lower speed. This is hugely useful because when the hvac turns off, there is still cold air in the duct. Having the booster fan run at a low speed keeps it pulling the trapped cold air. I set the "off" speed to 2/10 and it noticably helps. The unit display shows the air temp at the unit, not your room, so you can check if it is still pulling cold (or hot) air. One big negative is that they only have two sizes. 6x10 and 8x12. All of our vents are 8x14, so you can see what I did to fix that in the pix. I took an 8x14 return and cut the grill out, and drilled holes for the fan booster mount, then mounted it as normal. They *could* change the design so you buy the fan unit and the cover separately so they could offer many common sizes. There is no downside. The other big negative is the power cable. If your vents are low, it's easier to hide and you can run it along your base moulding, but all the vents in our house are high so -- oh well. Is it worth the price? I would say yes. It definitely boosted the cooling in our hot upstairs rooms and it's a lot cheaper than buying and installing a 2nd hvac system there.

Quickly Bring Comfort to a Room!

Our daughter's room is on the front of our house, which faces south, and is on the western corner; in the Summer, her room gets full, unobstructed sun all day until sunset. In the Winter, her room gets blasted by the frigid air from two sides (the wind in our area blows out of the west, so her room gets the brunt of it). Additionally, her room is at the very end of the HVAC run of the house, so the flow of air is very low. After doing some tinkering - I tried closing vents in other rooms (minimal effect) , and setting the thermostat to regulate off her room's temperature (AC/heat running way longer to cool/heat her room - big $ increase in our utility bill) - I purchased this booster. It made a HUGE, tangible improvement in the comfort of her room. You can feel the difference in the temperature almost immediately; her room stays markedly cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter. As others have noted, the settings can be a little counterintuitive, but once you get it set, it works really well. The app works well but you do have to be within Bluetooth range to make setting updates - which perhaps is my sole critique of this item; I would've preferred it to be Wi-Fi over Bluetooth so I could make updates remotely, but that isn't a huge deal. The fan isn't totally silent, but it doesn't bother us as our family all sleeps with fans/sound machines. It is audible during the day but isn't loud by any means. The first booster for our daughter's room has performed great even after a year of use. It works so well, in fact, we bought another one for our bedroom's vent. The unit itself is high quality and feels sturdy, and is a perfect fit for our vents. Overall, if you're in a similar situation, this booster really can't be beat. We got a nice discount on Prime Day for our second unit, but even at full price, I'd recommend giving it a try.

Just purchased second unit!

Pros: 1. Easy install - This unit is easy to install and really reduced to temperature (average 7-9 degrees) in the room significantly. 2. Works as described - My son’s room is always warmer than the rest of the house. He put this in and told me that there were a could have instances during the night where he could honestly say that he was cold. 3. The 12ft cord is a plus. Con: 1.It can get a little loud when st the highest level although it’s a small price to pay for comfort. 2. The display is technically a night light, so for people who love a super dark room that could be an issue. 3. The instructions are long and my son (28) complained that that’s just too complicated BUT he plugged it in and turned it up to 10 with ease and it works.

Once you figure out how to work the fan speeds and when the turn on and when to turn them off if you want to be progressive or not, they’re relatively simple. It’s just getting them figured out to your house watching it in a few times seeing when the temperature comes up how long you want to stay on and simple things. You just have to have time and patience to figure it out so if you have that great if you don’t have patience, I wouldn’t get it because you’ll get frustrated and get mad and say it’s a bad product. I have two of them and they both were made and they do the job as needed and the winter time I added extra heat to my room and to my kids room in the summertime it’s pulling, more cold air into my room and more and my kids.

Functioned fine, but did not work as advertised - Failed to cool room

Yes, it is true what you read in the other reviews. At full speed this thing does sound like a gaming PC on full-bore cooling mode... But, if that's something you don't mind, just to get your room cooled down, it's alright. It's not an overwhelming bad sound or obnoxiously loud... It's just like a little medium loudness white noise machine... Like a kid playing with a bubble blower... And if you've gotten to the point of needing a register AC vent booster pack, then I assume you've previously had fans in your room to try and cool it down as well... This won't be any louder than those were... I measured with my dB meter on my phone, and it was ~49-50 dB at MAX, fan level 10. At fan level 6, the default, it was ~45-46 dB. Now, while that doesn't seem like a lot, it's a lot like measuring PSI in your car tires - 24 psi, you're slightly in trouble, 30 psi you're good... dB are the same.. Small numerical changes are massive when viewed in the real world... A standard small room with no additional airflow is about 38-41 dB, in the same house. So, yes, this thing does sound loud... But, you can run it at max to cool off the room initially, then bump it down to a lesser number to maintain the cool temperatures... In the end, you're going to be cooled off no matter what, so just deal with a little noise in trade for not sweating your you-know-whats off... The unit is packaged well. Everything was covered with a nice plastic protector. The interior of the box has nice foam padding to protect the painted surface from transport damaged. The screw heads were painted the same white as the vent cover. I think it's great that they include the ability for the unit to be Bluetooth paired and controlled via an app. I get so tired of having remotes for everything scattered all over my desk area. The app to unit controls are quick to respond, and easy to understand. You almost don't even need an on-unit LED panel & buttons (keep the IR receiver, obviously). Also, yes, the controller will pick up the last settings applied from the app if you turn the unit off with the remote. One weird thing that I didn't like is that at fan level 8 this unit made some horrifically horrid noises, like someone summoning an alien mothership... But at all the other higher and lower levels it doesn't make anywhere close to that same noise... Level 5 has slightly the same sound, at a reduced tone and isn't quite as ear-stabbing, but it's discernably still there... The controller inside the unit has a lot of great settings and modes to pick from, to ensure optimal comfort of the person using the unit. Everything from timer, to temperature sensing, time cycling (1 hr on, 2 hr off, 1 hr on), to full manual control over the unit without needing to physically touch it. I like it, from a technology stand-point. Sadly, this item doesn't appear to be very successful in my use-case. I like in a house that was built in 1984. The room I reside in has ALWAYS been HOT! The two hottest rooms in the house. Always 80-85 degrees. I was hoping that this would create more pull on the AC unit and get it divert more cool air to this room, as is its intended use... After having it installed for 12+ hours it still hasn't made even a half-degree of difference to the room temperature. Sad to say that it looks like this product is a flop, for me. Installed it in the late afternoon, and had been watching the digital thermometer next to my desk all day - 2 pm to 3 am - It never went down lower than 82 F. It's now 3 AM and 84 F, with the home AC set for 73 F. So, sadly, I can't say that this product is supported by me... In my opinion, I gave it plenty of time to cool a room that is 8 ft x 12 ft with 8 ft ceiling, 96 sq ft space, within a reasonable time duration, and it failed.

Why didn't I buy this sooner? Fantastic product!

This register booster is a solid five star from me! I live in a 115 year old house and for over 20 years, one of the bedrooms has always been colder than the rest of the house. I learned it is because that room shares a duct going to the bathroom which can be solved but with the ducts wrapped in what I suspect is asbestos, re-ducting is cost prohibitive. Last month after walking into the room, I realized it was nearly 15 degrees cooler than the rest of the house so I put my mind to task to find a solution that is not duct-invasive...After some research, I came across the AC Infinity brand of boosters and decided to take a chance. WOW am I amazed as to how effective the product really is! My house only has central heat but this product works for both ducted heat as well as AC. The programming logic is simple but can be perplexing at first because it is backwards from a normal thermostat. For the booster to function, you program it to come ON when its sensor detects the desired air. In my case, I want heat to be boosted to the room so the logic is set so that the fan comes on when it senses air that is greater than 75F. The ambient room temperature is never that high in the winter, therefore the fans will only come on when the furnace blows the hot air through the ducts. Even with the slightest whiff of hot air that BARELY would come out of the register, the booster sensor detects it at 75F then initiates the fans (I set mine on medium)...Sure enough, less than 30s after the furnace comes on, the booster kicks in and pulls the air up and into the room. The shared bathroom vent does not suffer from the booster fan pulling air which was a concern of mine. Both the bathroom and this bedroom are now less than 1d off from the rest of the house. FINALLY I feel bad that I just now installed this, years after the kids moved out of the house. This room used to be their bedroom since they were little and they always woke up to a frigid bedroom which sucks. I honestly never thought about a booster fan that had logic built in to it the way this one does. It is also whisper quiet, pulling in the desired air without any noises. The power cord is the only bummer but they supply a very long cord to the power plug that goes in to the wall. It is powered by 12vdc so I am sure there are other ways to sneak power to the booster for those that want a seamless install, however for me...I just wanted it to be effective and it is. The fit and finish is high quality as well. I went for the bronze look and it looks sleek, even in this old house. The LED lights on the front are not bright enough to keep a person awake, although you can even program the front lights to go off for a light-free experience. The booster can also be programmed for AC. Simply set the booster thermostat to trigger the fans at a low temperature like 60F. This may not make sense when reading but believe me, when your central AC kicks in, the air coming out of the vents is WAAAY colder than 60F so you basically want to give the booster a "hint" that the desired air is in the vent and that it needs to turn on to pull it out. For example, in my case when the heat kicks on, the booster sees rise in vent air temps and when that air gets to 75F, the fans kick in and pull the hot air out. Eventually, that hot air reaches a balmy 96F at full tilt. I used a laser temp tool to measure the heat at other vents and its the same! That might seem abnormal but it isn't. For AC, the air can be as cold as 40F coming out of the vents so .... think about how you want to trigger your booster fan... Long story long....This product is effective...It's well made....it's inexpensive...It looks good...and most importantly, it allows the room to be comfortable just like the rest of the house! So don't wait...Hit that "Add to cart" button and get it!

Air flow of an elderly persons dying breath

I bought this because it has good software features like auto turn on etc. I saw some reviews of bad airflow and thought “oh it can’t be that bad because the whole idea of this product is to move lots of air, it would be useless if the one thing it was made to do doesn’t work good” Well here we are - the airflow is so bad it feels like it actually just blocks what little airflow it used to have. The fans are bulky and don’t allow air to pass through them, on the highest speed it feels like an elderly person letting out their dying breath. You have to be 3 inches from the fan to feel it. The fan doesn’t blow in the direction it’s facing, it just blows out the sides like there is an object blocking the flow. TLDR; software - good Fan speed - bad Air flow - bad Screw placement - seems off, it worked but didn’t align properly Frustration - high
