Abu Garcia's quality has been slipping over the last few years. I'm not on the water as much as I used to be so I thought I'd give them another shot. I've fished with rods that ranged from Fenwick to G Loomis... but the cost isn't justified anymore. The rod appears to be of a decent quality.

The rod feels and casts great, and it's almost as light as some higher end rods. Then I casted and lost by rig. I wasn't sure what happened, but figure I frayed my line on something in the water. Then it happened again almost immediately after. Upon further examination half of the inner loner of the top eyelet was missing, and the remaining piece had a sharp edge that cut right through Power Pro 20lb braid. I see another review mentioned the top eyelet, too. I still like the rod so I got a replacement. I'm about to take it out for some sunset fishing, so we'll see how it holds up. Top guide tip chipped and started striping fishing line after 3rd time using it . While fishing reel popped off due to faulty tensioning screw . This was the second rod I received after first arrived damaged.
