We use this mat under our puppy's food and water dishes. He's pretty neat but sometimes makes a mess with his water. This mat does exactly what it says - it absorbs the spilled water keeping his food area neat. Unlike rubber mats that contain the mess, this mat soaks it in. It seems to be easy to clean but I'm a little wary that it might start to smell if spilled food and dog drool is allowed to sit and dry in it. We ordered the brown color which is true to the photo. The mat appears thicker in the amazon photos than it is in real life. It's less than 1/4" thick. The underside is a nice non-slip material that doesn't move at all on our hardwood floors. I wish the mat was a little bigger or they didn't cut the corners so much. By cutting the ends into half circles, you lose a lot of usable area from the mat. I also wish it was packaged differently. It came rolled tightly and it took several days for the ends to fully uncurl. Overall this is a decent mat for occasionally messy dogs, so long as your dog dishes are small enough to fit on the mat. If it was bigger and less expensive I would rate it higher.

We keep the fountain on a counter since it needs to be plugged in and it seems safer than having a cord on the floor. We ran into a problem because one of the cats likes to play with the water and it was dripping off the counter and onto the floor. The mat is perfect for our needs. It is actually very similar to some placements we have. The top is absorbent and dries very quickly - it never seems wet for long. The rubber bottom keeps it securely in place. Our fountain doesn’t make a lot of noise, but the mat absorbs the sound and makes it totally silent compared to having it on the counter. Love the color too as it doesn’t stand out, just blends in with the fountain. This item is also easy to clean. It just needs to be rinsed off and hung to dry. While I think we could have used a placemat instead of this at a lower cost, we’re still very satisfied with the item.

I have been using this underneath my dog's water bowl and food bowl on a carpeted floor. The material is rubbery and slip-resistant which is nice. It seems a little thinner compared to the promotional photos, but it is sufficiently thick. I would have liked it to be slightly larger than 16x24, and if there was a larger option I would have gone with that. The biggest downside is the price. This item is decent enough quality but I'm not sure it's worth $25. Maybe wait for a sale. Also be aware that it is hand wash only. All in all, good product and would recommend, especially for smaller dogs or not super messy drinkers.

Definitely is absorbent. Our water dish sits on this mat and any little spills dry up immediately. Even a big spill seemed to stop spreading pretty quickly and, though, it took more time, it appeared to dry up almost completely within the minute. While it didn't "pick up" pet hair and dust, it doesn't repel it either so I'm not sure what the ads mean about that. However, it was really easy to just wipe down to clean. It's a pretty basic mat that does a great job absorbing spills.

This really is a nice mat to put under a pet’s water dish. I have a rather messy pug and I was looking for an absorbent mat to catch the water she spills out of her water dish while she drinks. This mat was worked perfectly catching these spills. It’s very absorbent and really helps dry the water quickly throughout the day. It’s large enough to hold two dishes for a small dog or cat, or one large water dish for a bigger dog. The material is not very thick and seems to be good quality. I expect this mat to last a long time. I also really like the rubber material on the bottom. It holds the mat in place and prevents it from sliding across my tile floor. Overall, I’m very pleased with this mat. It’s well made, absorbs and drys water quickly, and helps to keep my pet area clean. I would definitely recommend it.

Nice mat, not as thick as it looks in picture. Color is true. But way over priced. I don't know what makes it worth that much, it doesn't do anything. Not worth the price, unless it actually fed your dog.

I guess that the description said this was an absorbent pet feeding mat, but I hadn’t expected it to be this type of material. It seems to me that this will absorb drool, and wet food, and smells whereas my other mats have always been runner so that it contained the mess, but could be easily cleaned. I’ll give this a try, but suspect it will end up ripped and stinky in short order/ I’m also concerned about whether it will dry quickly or hold the moisture we my flooring and cause mold or discoloring
