  • Highly recommend
This kayak rack is easy to install and provides all the tie downs to secure your kayak. I have used it a few time with the longest trip being 3 ew. Our 12.5’ kayak did not move. I highly recommend.

  • Not bad in general, but not the entire base is made of stainless steel.
Not the entire base is made of stainless steel; the base is not universal and fits the type of crossbars, which are not wide in a cross-section (no more than 2 1/4 in.)

  • Quality and Value
Color: KX-405-BLK
I just installed these on a trailer project to hold my Nucanoe F10. They went on VERY easily and seem sturdy. Once I have them configured to my liking I'll probably use Locktite to make sure they don't come loose. I'm impressed with the quality of the materials used, and I think these will fit my needs very well. I had a set of Yakima Sweetroll several years ago for another trailer project. Those worked really well, but OMG they cost over $220 now! (I paid $133 five years ago!) It is absolutely work checking these out even though they are a no-name brand. I will NOT be using these to store my much heavier Hobie PA14, however, as they would almost certainly deform the hull over time. I am sure some have not had such a problem, but I already have a proven PVC solution that has had zero problems so why change. They do come with a set of ratcheting straps. I'll update once I get the kayak mounted and on the road if anything goes awry. ... show more

  • Much more secure than the J-hook style carrier.
Color: KX-405-BLK
There is not much to dislike. They are very easy to remove and remount....no one wants them on going through the car wash. The ratchet strap pattern was a little hard the first time but was easier on subsequent mounts and dismounts. The 10 foot was unflinching and quiet as compared to the J-hook rack we had before. ... show more

  • I prefer this method of hauling kayaks
These "saddle racks” hold a variety of sizes & shapes of kayaks & canoes for transport. I like the fact that this method allows you to keep the boat in a prone position, more streamlined with the wind. Simply place the boat upright in the saddles, strap it crossways, plus tie down the bow & stern & you are good to go on down the road! ... show more

  • Cannot be beat for the money
Color: KX-405-BLK
I was previously using a Yakima Sweetroll, but a low garage door took busted the rear pads (the pricy ones with the rollers). Only needed one pair of cradles, but poor reviews on the Yakima Deck hand sadles (only thing I could find to just get half the set) and price kind of kept me away. These things are fantastic. I would say every bit as sturdy as the Yakima stuff, and I much prefer the form/function of these. Only the crescent part that holds the pads, and the base that connects to the rack is steel, and it does appear to be steel, not cheap chinesium. The rest is a durable nylon fiber reinforced plastic, very stiff. As you can see, I don't have the most traditional setup, but it allows me to clear my spare tire (which doesn't fit in the spare tire well). I don't have a pic with the boat up there, because I honestly didn't plan to do a review. But I have a Stratos 14.5L that I carry both rightside up and upside down in this saddle, and it cradles it just perfectly around the edges. The stratos has a very thin central hull, which deformed when tied down on my previous racks. It requires something that can grip the boat around the edges. This works just perfectly. Highly recomended. BEWARE!!! There is another set that looks VERY similar by ROLA. Avoid this set, it is plagued with reviews of loosening fasteners, and after taking a close look between the two sets, I can tell why. The pins aren't riveted or use any retaining pin lock washers as far as I can tell. ... show more

  • Works well with my kayak
Color: KX-405-BLK
My kayak rode really well with these, but I had to carry it right side up (no big deal). The "feet" swivel easily and have rubber facing that grips the boat really well. No need to tie off front and back with an inverted "V", just one line front and back and two straps around the kayak and cross rails and it held solid for 1300 miles. My only complaint would be that the 16 bolts (4 each) were really long and I couldn't open my moon roof. ... show more

  • Worked for a Hobie
Color: KX-405-BLK
I got these to transport my Hobie 1,000 miles in the winter. These provide reasonable grip and protection on the sidewalls. It was a slight hassle to install (probably takes me 15-20 minutes to get all four in place), but did not damage anything, were easy to remove again afterward, and also can fold down to a slightly lower profile when not in use. ... show more
