*UPDATE* 12-19-19 Emailed AA last night about the purpose of the long rubber strips, here is the reply I got back today: "Dear customer, Thank you for your message regarding the rubber strips. It is an optional installation. The function of the strips is to reduce the wind noise. If there is no whistling sound or you do not mind, it is not necessary to put it on. Feel free to contact us if you have further questions. Thank you. Customer Service" That is text book customer service if you ask me. Also, today i put the racks together (in the house off of the truck). They went together easily and no problems. Very simple to assemble. Only problem is two small dents in one rail, but that doesn't matter to me because they are going on my work truck. But it does take away a little overall. I will not deduct a star thou because the overall fit and finish is much nicer than I expected, so we'll call it a wash. See pics for the dents and how the rails look put together. INITIAL REVIEW 12-18-19 First off, I must say that I am so impressed with this package that I had to stop my unboxing to write this initial review. I am a real person from Cleveland Ohio, I bought my white 2-bar rack two weeks before Christmas and it still got here in only 3 days (said it would take a week so got here way early). I bought this rack to put on my 2006 Dodge Dakota Lakeland truck cap to carry several ladders for a gutter cleaning business I do on the side. The packaging was adequate, nothing was damaged at all and the directions were included, which listed all of the parts which were present and accounted for. My overall impression of this product is solid quality with an above average finish and nice attention to detail in both packaging, finish and directions. The directions are simple, easy to follow with giant full color pictures that a monkey could follow (see pics of instructions I posted). The one-star complaints about the directions/product have me scratching my head. So far overall impression is outstanding. I will post more pics and reviews as I go thru the process of installation and use. Honestly, the installation looks to be very simple and straightforward but I will post afterwards anyway. These are so nice! I think I'm going to order another set. This roof rack is a lot nicer than I thought. After having read two one star reviews for this product, I want to say that I am not receiving "gifts" for my 5 star review. LOL. If you have any brains whatsoever you won't have to make "swiss cheese" of your camper shell to install them. Yes the holes in the little brackets are a little short, but you dont need to butcher anything to use them. Also, the bolts are not to short. My camper wheel is fiberglass and is more than an 1/8 inch thick easy, maybe 3/16inch thick. With all the parts sandwiched together there was just enough bolt coming through for the nuts to bite. I installed the nuts two squish the foam pads down and them removed one nut at a time to install the washers. Once everything was tightened down there was about 7/16inch of bolt exposed on the inside. I dont know about you, but I wouldnt want anymore bolt exposed. Watch your head. For the other guy going on about the brackets saying "IT WILL", my only question to you is: Did it? I mean if it didnt snap, how would you know? We could claim that many things could happen. Until you prove it, please stop. LOL. Obviously, if you overload your racks, yea it could break. If like to think you'd have a lot more to worry about if you overloaded your racks. Losing control of your now top heavy truck? Cracking your shell under a huge amount of weight? Use common sense people. This rack is awesome. My truck looks amazing with them and I can easily see myself strapping down a canoe or kayak, ladders, camping gear, etc. ... show more

Based on the price point compared to "name" brands I wasn't expecting these racks to be this solid. They have a great finish and feel super sturdy. Mounted easy ony camper shell and no water coming through the mounting holes. Will be transporting kayaks, surfboards, and a small Jon boat. I have no doubt these will hold up great. ... show more

I looked forever for a rack that would work for my home made camping trailer that wouldn't cost more than the trailer itself. These fit the bill and I can't be more happy with them. I ordered the 60" black racks. Everything was well packaged and in perfect condition when I got them. Install was really easy. They included 2 sets of bolts (one short, one long), metal interior mounting plates, and foam seals to sit between the mounting surface and the rack mounting plates (interior and exterior). Since I installed these on what is essentially a wooden box, I used 12 rather long 1/4" stainless steel lag screws, 3 on each mounting plate. The bars are rather big, much bigger than a typical roof rack you would find on a car. If you plan to mount attachments for kayaks, bikes, etc keep this in mind. The bars have an excellent finish. I was worried my metal ratchet straps would scuff the finish, but heck no, they held up perfect. The seals that sit between the rack and the box did a great job as well, no leaks of any kind. Overall, you won't find a better universal rack for the price. If you are on the fence, buy it, you won't be disappointed. ... show more
