  • It takes time, but works!
Impressive Results in Just One Week! 🌿💧 So far, I’m very pleased with this UV filter! We were dealing with a stubborn green water bloom that just wouldn’t go away—until we installed this unit. 📸 Photo 1 was taken on July 11, the day we set it up. 📸 Photo 2 was taken on July 15 (4 days later). 📸 Photo 3 is from July 18—just one week after installation. The improvement is clear—literally! The water is steadily clearing up, and the bloom is anlmost fully under control. Definitely worth the investment if you’re struggling with persistent cloudiness in your tank I’ll update once it is crystal clear. ... show more

  • This will work on a much larger tank - if you’re patient.
Bought this for my 125 gallon full blown Danish Style planted system stocked with tetras and small catfish. First foray into fertilizer dosing resulted in a dense planktonic algae bloom (don’t trust the results you get from NO3 & PO4 test kits). Dropped this unit in the system and did a few 1/3 water changes plus photo period adjustments and the water cleared right out. Yes, you can use one of these on a large tank - you just need to be a little more patient as it only has 35gal of actual flow through. It took about 3 weeks to fully straighten out. ... show more

  • Impressed
It wasn't as fast as I thought it would be, but it WORKED. After dealing with algae for months, cleaning and changing water two or three times weekly, changing filters and filter media, I finally decided to invest in this. I'm glad I did. I'm happy to SEE my fish again. It took about 3 weeks to get to pretty much clear in my 37 gallon tank. ... show more

  • Took less than a week to remove green algae from water
This did a great job of removing the green algae from my 39 gallon tank. I included before and after photos. Keep an eye on your nitrates and nitrites while running this. When this was working I had to do some additional partial water changes to preserve water quality. Now that the water is clear, I have been running this one day each week to keep the water clear and preserve the bulb life. ... show more

  • Waste of money, tried several times
I have a 20 gal tank and my small UV light died so I bought this one thinking it should have no issue and after the first one failed after a week I got another one and this hasn’t done a thing. The algae went from a small amount to decently bad and I’ve even left lights off in a dark room for several days to possibly help but nothing and now it’s just going into the garbage. The small version worked so much better plus had much better water flow where this one just trickles out ... show more

  • It takes a few days, but it definitely works!
I had tried name-brand algae killers, and they didn't seem to do much of anything for green water. Acurel-F would keep it nice for a couple of days, but then it would choke the filter. And continual water changes didn't help much, either. I had also tried other tower-style all-in-one UV lights in the past, but all they seemed to do was blast my poor fish across the tank. So, I came across the Green Killing Machine series, but was skeptical. I thought it was just a more expensive name-brand AIO UV light that I'd probably be sending back. But to my delight, it cleared up the green water slowly but surely. While this is rated for a 50 gallon tank, it isn't overpowered for a 10-gallon, which I was also very happy to see. The water flow is gentle, so it isn't launching fish, or sucking in all of their food. Once I had it cleared up, I ended up adding an interval timer, but that's where I docked a star. This uses an external control box (I call it a "control box" but there's nothing to actually adjust on it) and it seems to me that for what this costs, that would be a logical place to put a timer. And keep in mind -- the company recommends a timer to improve the lifespan of the bulb -- so not building one in seems questionable at this price point. That said, the amount of time it's already saved me in backing off on water changes has already more than covered the cost of an interval timer. ... show more

  • Works awesome
I installed the 9watt in my cloudy 35 gallon Saltwater aquarium and it cleared the water in less than 48 hours. I have the 24 watt version running on my big reef tank and the water is always crystal clear. Highly recommended for quality and price.
