  • Not the best quality machine, print head never worked perfect from brand new
There are all different price points and quality printers available. I purchased this one as a starter model to get some experience with UV printing before spending a lot of money. This one seemed like a good price for having the faster XP600 print head. First issue - there is an automatic table adjustment, which is supposed to put the print table at the correct height to print on your item/material. This has never worked correctly. If I use the automatic option, it doesn't raise the table close enough to the print head, so the prints come out blurry. When I talked to support, they said you aren't supposed to adjust it manually, let it do it automatically. They didn't listen when I explained that it doesn't work. So I always need to manually adjust my print table a little higher to get it close enough to the print head. Not ideal...but at least I can get it to print decent that way. Second issue - the print head never worked quite right from brand new. I loaded up the ink, ran a few clean cycles to get the ink to come through, and then did a nozzle check. There were several broken lines in my nozzle check. So I ran a power clean and m,ultiple more clean processes. It never improved. Every test showed the exact same missing spots in my nozzle checks. When I talked to support, I explained that this was leaving lines in my prints because there are nozzle jets not working. They didn't seem to care about that, they had me adjust my print resolution to 2880 to get a better looking print and said to keep it there. So their solution was to print at a higher resolution to make the lines less noticeable. I am experienced enough with printing that I know the print head is not working correctly and the print quality suffers from this. If the print head didn't have such a poor print pattern in the nozzle check, I should be able to use the 1440 resolution, which would print faster with a good looking print result. So I'm going to need to buy a new print head, which is frustrating since it never worked from brand new and even this lower end printer is still over $2k. Third issue - the overall machine quality feels poor. The table positioning motors seemed loud, as well as the parts that move during the head cleaning. It just has a feeling of cheaper parts. But the most obvious quality issue is that the flat bed print table is not mounted flat from left to right. I can see that there is a larger gap on the left side than on the right. This is probably the reason that my automatic height adjustment isn't working as it should. When you look under the bottom edge of the table, you can see that the gap is uneven and there are several screws at weird angles and not tightened down like you'd expect. It seems like a very hokey method of adjusting the table position, but it's definitely not quite right. (see attached picture of printer's flat bed with the vertical gap and the screws in the bottom) I definitely cannot recommend this printer and I wish I'd spent more to get a better quailty machine. This is a test printer for me, which I'm hoping gives some better quality prints after I replace the print head. ... show more
