This works better on a golf cart vs a push cart due to the way it has to attach to the cart. On a golf cart the magnets and the strap do a good job keeping it stable. On a push cart strapped to the handle it bounces around a bit having to be repositioned on occasion. Overall, it’s good, but better on a cart.

I recently ordered this Magnetic Phone Holder designed for golfing, hoping it would be a convenient solution for keeping my phone secure and accessible on the golf course. While it has some strong points, there are significant issues that prevent it from being a perfect product. Here’s my detailed take on why it earns 3 stars. The concept and design of this phone holder are promising. It’s built to attach to both the square tubing on the front roof supports of a golf cart and the round bar of a push cart’s handle, thanks to its stretchy rubber strap. This versatility is a big plus, as it makes the holder compatible with different types of golf carts. The inclusion of two magnets in the mounting base to help stabilize it on metal surfaces is a nice touch, and the setup process is straightforward. Attaching the holder to the cart is quick and easy, and the adjustable ball mount allows you to angle your phone for optimal viewing, which is great for checking scores, using apps, or listening to music while golfing. The magnet that holds the phone is extremely strong, which is both a strength and a major drawback. On the positive side, you can trust that your phone won’t fall off, even on bumpy golf cart rides. I used it with my iPhone 16, and it stayed securely in place during movement. However, the magnet’s strength makes removing the phone a serious challenge. With my MagSafe case, I have to use two hands and significant force to detach the phone, which is frustrating and inconvenient. The stretchy rubber straps, while easy to attach, aren’t strong or tight enough to keep the mount stable when you’re pulling the phone off. I often have to hold the mount down with one hand while yanking the phone with the other, which feels clunky and defeats the purpose of a quick-access holder. Another issue is the clamping mechanism on the ball mount. Even when I tighten the adjustment nut as much as possible, the force required to remove the phone inevitably shifts the mount’s angle. This means I have to readjust the viewing angle every time I take my phone off, which is annoying. I found a partial workaround by removing my MagSafe case, as the phone’s built-in magnets adhere less strongly to the mount without it. This makes detachment easier, but it’s a hassle to remove the case every time I want to use the holder, especially since I prefer keeping my phone protected on the course. For golfers who don’t use a magnetic case, the holder might be more functional, but even then, the force needed to remove the phone still causes the mount to shift due to the weak clamping mechanism and stretchy straps. The mount simply isn’t rigid enough to stay in place during phone removal, which undermines its practicality. Overall, this magnetic phone holder has a solid concept and some appealing features, like its versatility across cart types and ease of attachment. However, the overly strong magnet, weak clamping mechanism, and insufficiently secure straps make it frustrating to use in practice. It’s a decent product that works if you’re willing to deal with its quirks, but it could be much better with a less aggressive magnet and a sturdier mounting system. I’d recommend it with reservations for golfers who don’t mind the extra effort or don’t use a magnetic case, but it’s not the seamless solution I was hoping for.
