This is the 3rd book in the serie and it is a good read. We get to know here a lot about private life of three main characters - Liz, Pat and Thelma. And it is interesting. The mystery is good and the book is well written.

A Clock Stopped Dead started strong with a unique and atmospheric first chapter. The three protagonists, Thelma, Pat, and Liz are all retired school teachers who through a former workmate, become involved in trying to solve what seems to be a sinister disappearing charity shop and a simultaneous fatal road traffic accident. There are many characters to keep straight and several side plots that don't serve any purpose to my mind. Despite being set in the glorious county of Yorkshire, there is very little sense of place. The plot was interesting and the protagonists were relatable but the author could benefit from a good editor. ... show more

Who can resist a piece of cake and a good cup of coffee? Certainly not, Pat, Liz, and Thelma. What’s even harder to resist he’s trying to find out more about the Charity shop that a friend tells them about. When they can’t find the shop, things got even more interesting. Will they be able to figure it out, or someone willing to kill to keep a secret? This is a great mix of mystery, mayhem, and comedy. It makes me want to join the ladies at the café join them in future adventures. I guess I’ll have to settle for reading the books, yet even that is a great escape with friends. ... show more

Especially when they find out the shop has disappeared into thin air. And a fatal car accident occurred near the site immediately after Marguerite’s experience. They quickly look into the situation, with the help of the accident victim’s sister Brid. What follows is a wacky and intriguing tale that gets more and more mysterious the more the ladies dig. Hall does a great job of developing the fun and plucky Liz, Pat and Thelma, as well as other quirky and mysterious characters. He creates a plot that leaves readers guessing what the connections are between various situations and characters. Fans of series like Richard Osman’s “The Thursday Murder Club,” Robert Thorogood’s “The Marlow Murder Club” and Peter Boland’s “The Charity Shop Detective Agency Mysteries” will love “A Clock Stopped Dead.” One disclaimer: this novel does contain some usage of coarse language, most of all which occurs in the final quarter of the book.     • The tale was engaging but it was also disjointed and confusing.. It took me a while to catch on to where we were in the just who was speaking.

The tale was engaging but it seemed disjointed and confusing at times. It took me awhile to figure out who was speaking and to figure out where we were in the tale and the timeline. I wouldn't purchase another book y this author.
