  • Tech support is Pathetic
In the middle of erecting the 4 post lift the plastic blocks riding up and down the vertical post did not fit properly called tech support and the answer i got was we will put a ticket in for a response in 24-48 hours REALLY!! so what do i do now with this 200 lb column laying on my garage floor with 100 other pieces .Totally ridiculous and i would seriously reconsider ever purchasing from Bendpak because of this .The only salvation is speaking to the only person that knows every function of these units ""MARCO"" always answers call and always calls back and always remembers your name and unit . A true professional .,and he is not with tech support and responds instantly Bp ... show more

  • Hey buddy, how 'bout a lift?
Bought this from a different vendor but it warrants a review. Have had it for 6 years. Requires 220 volt to power the hydraulic pump. Requires air to release the mechanical "dogs" that lock the lift in place. The system is mechanically robust and simple. A hydraulic cylinder connects to four wire ropes. Each rope is a different length. Via sheaves (pulleys) the hydraulic cylinder moves forward and back and translates the lateral motion into vertical motion through the wire ropes. Mechanical "dogs" lock the lift in place at 4" intervals. The air system releases the dogs. Disconnect the air and the lift is locked down so it can't come down on your head. If you have to do Lock Out Tag Out at work this is how you'd control that stored energy. Anyone building a new garage should consider this. It's far less money to get a lift than it is to build another garage bay. Just build the garage taller and you can double your vehicle storage. You need to consider your vehicle heights carefully. The HD9 is too short (vertically) to drive a pickup under for example. Other versions have greater vertical lift so just do that homework in advance. The major plus for the lift is that you can do your own vehicle maintenance. We use it to lift up cars to change tires (use a scissor jack on a 4x6; very stable and safe) at waist height. Great for exhaust work. I've used it on four wheeler projects, trailer projects and even changing riding mower blades (drive it perpendicular to the normal path, strap it down and pop off the blades easily and safely for sharpening). Many people have been over to use it for projects so it's great for learning. I give it four stars because the paint is not robust on the elements you drive on. We live in an area where salt is applied in the winter and the thin paint is now flaking away even though salted vehicles are only occasionally placed on it in the winter for maintenance. A more durable coating would be recommended so if you buy one consider having the horizontal elements Rhinolined (or whatever the local pickup bed material is in your neck of the woods; Gatorhyde etc). Assembly isn't super easy but we found that using an ATV lift to help position the heavy horizontal elements was helpful. The ATV lift was able to lift those elements and hold them at the right installation elevation and the wheels on the ATV lift made positioning really easy. It was a PITA before we struck on that trick. Extra care is required if you bolt it to you floor (we did) to ensure the posts are perfectly square. The instructions were relatively easy to follow. We did not place extra concrete beneath the post locations and have seen no detrimental impacts. The lift is designed so one could operate it on casters; we just opted to fix the location for additional safety. Recap. Cheaper than building another bay and less property taxes as a result. Super handy for all kinds of projects. Paint on horizontal elements is wimpy. Since it requires an air compressor you get to justify an air compressor which is also all kinds of handy. It has paid for itself by allowing me to do projects that would have cost time and money going to a shop. Super safe using the same mechanical locking systems on their very heavy duty commercial lifts. Look at other brands. I think they all work on the same premise. This one seemed decent and my experience backs that up. Good luck on your new lift, you'll be very pleased with it. ... show more

Great Lift. Had it since 2008 and has been flawless. It has a narrow and wide setting, to accommodate older classics, and modern exotics.

  • Junk
I bought the 14,000 lb. One. Junk. Been nothing but problems. I'll be ripping it out and replacing it after only 2 years. Going to be my outside lift, where it belongs.
