For the price, this is an amazing unit. It's a variable speed inverter heat pump, it has a variable speed compressor and outdoor fan. This is something you usually only find in much more expensive systems. That means it's both energy efficient and dead quiet. You can barely hear the outdoor unit standing next to it, and the indoor unit is virtually silent. The unit has all the usual mini-split features -- heat, cool, dehumidify, fan, turbo mode, and "follow me" where it uses the temperature sensor in the remote. I haven't tried the Wifi, but it has that, too. The interior unit has motorized vanes for up/down and left/right direction control. There is a 2-digit temperature display, switchable between Celsius and Fahrenheit. The display can be disabled. Install was easy. Mine came with a dented top cover and missing a few minor parts (like insulating tape), probably because UPS completely destroyed the box during shipping. But it still worked. One kind of weird thing is that it comes with SOW cord to connect it to power and the indoor unit. That's not compliant with the NEC, so you might have to remove the grommets and use liquidtight conduit. However, it works fine with the cords, it just looks a bit odd. The one complaint I have is the interior bracket. It is extremely flimsy and really requires using every single screw hole for adequate support. However, the unit is so lightweight that it should be no issue relying on drywall anchors to secure it. Like most minisplits, there is only one port on the low side. You will definitely need a vacuum pump and ideally a micron gauge. You also want to use a torque wrench to tighten the flares, since either under-tightening or over-tightening them will result in leaks. I redid the flares and cut the lineset down to length. One thing to keep in mind is that the expansion valve is inside the outdoor unit, so both lines will get very cold and need insulation. You do have to be very careful bending the lineset, the 3/8" line kinks very easily. Surge protection is a must with these types of units, especially if you have thunderstorms in the area. The inverter electronics are rather delicate and are easily damaged by voltage surges. The unit is branded as Garvee and appears to be a rebadged AUX QE series unit. AUX is a huge manufacturer of air conditioners in China and they've been in business for about 40 years. It's a little strange that they choose to market their units in the US under all sorts of weird brand names, but they do seem to know what they are doing. Build quality seems to be quite good, especially since it managed to survive the UPS drop-kick treatment with no significant damage. Bottom line, this is an excellent unit for the price. I don't know how long it will last, but given that it's basically the same price as a windowshaker, I don't really care, either. ... show more

Impressive unit and customer service. I purchased a 15 amp double pole breaker that the toggles were connected together. Obviously, I thought it was 240v. Apparently, they make non tandem double pole breakers that are separate 120v on 1 toggle. Anyway, I couldn't get the unit to turn on. I emailed the company, they immediately responded and we got to work. They pointed out the voltage problem and I bought the correct breaker. It works great now. Thanks ... show more

The newer operating refrigerant pressure is much higher than older models. I used NY LOC BLUE on the flare face for extra protection. Unit startup went fine. Noise level is much lower than older models.

I do HVAC and couldn't put this in a customer's house for warranty reasons but did put it in my house. These are excellent units, AI says it's not made by Midea but it sure looks like it. C Also came with nice armor flex insulation on the line set, ferrels and square terminal connectors on the end of the wires were the best I've seen on a line set kit. There's quality in these units. The drain line they sent is not UV rated so use it unless it's completely inside a chase. It's really bad plastic and will turn into dust in a year if it's in the sun. Most unit ship with the same drain line, some of the higher end Cooper Hunter units will have the high quality white vinyl drain line, I use that or hard half inch black irrigation pipe as a drain line.
