Three days ago I bought this monitor so I could hook it up to my CCTV DVR. It has never worked. My DVR works perfectly when hooked up to my PC using the VGA cable, but nothing happens when I hook the same VGA cable to this monitor. The power button seems to work, as does the channel button, on the monitor and the remote, but the menu button doesn't do anything at all on the remote or the monitor. I am still waiting for a response from the vendor after three days without a monitor for my surveillance system. UPDATE; The replacement monitor works just fine the moment I connected it. First off, the instructions are virtually useless. They don't do much more than identify the parts and buttons on the unit. There's no info about how to hook up the unit or what kinds of devices it can connect to. All attempts at putting an image on the screen failed - all I ever saw was the message 'no signal'. This is a nice budget monitor for general purpose usage. It's got a plastic build which is decently solid, and the image quality is overall fine. I'm not going to pretend this monitor is the best thing in the word, because it's not. Far from it. However for the price, it is perfectly fine. One thing to note for any photographers/videographers looking into this monitor: It wasn't designed to be used with cameras. While it CAN be used with a camera (it says so in the advertising), that's not what it's designed for. There's no integrated battery, nor is there a battery slot, so you'll need to power this monitor with a V-Mount battery with a 12V output (or something of the sort). There are no camera centric features built into the monitor, such as histogram. However, there is a standard tripod threading at the bottom of the monitor, so you can easily mount it on a rig. I was interested in this monitor because it was cheap and it claimed camera compatibility in the advertising, but just keep in mind that there are going to be some hoops to jump through and it's not ideal. I'm not going to take any stars off because it never claimed to be a camera monitor specifically, but it's something worth noting. Overall, I think it's a good mini monitor for the price.
