Runs way too lean for my Generac 5550 Wheelhouse
I inherited a Generac Wheelhouse 5550 that had sat in a garage for ten years; nedless to say, the original Nikki carb was a hot mess. Rather than go through the hassle of a clean and rebuild, or a replacement that was 5x the cost of this option, I went with this just to see. The generator started up on the third pull, and I thought it was running fine, however, I've come to learn it is running far leaner than the stock Briggs & Stratton carb, and the generator ultimately has an overheat shut down at about the five minute mark. So, what I thought was a great alternative has proven to be useless. Due to EPA regulations, the carb is not adjustable, so it can't be adjusted to feed more fuel. I suspect this carb simply tries to be a drop in for too many OEM carbs and my generator requires a richer mix than others. Couple tips: 1) It is incredibly easy to change the choke knob among the three options that are included, but there are on installation instructions so it may not be obvious. You simply go to full open position and yank the butterfly plate right out of the vertical plastic piece that holds it. It will come out easy with a pair of pliers or perhaps even fingers. 2) If fuel starts coming out either of the two holes to the right of the air intake opening, you have a defective unit. I bought another cheap-o model like this one before trying this one and it spit gas out as soon as the fuel valve was open. Simply returned, swapped this one in. My understanding is those tubes are for certain other equipment that my generator simply doesn't make use of, and they connect down into the float bowl where there is supposed to be a valve that closes them from backflow.

Modifications nessasary
Little more work than expected to change over. You have to change link rod and spring to make work properly took about 40 minutes to install and adjust. I also changed the choke blade and lever back to original just because the one that comes with it is very cheaply made. Very flimsy plastic choke lever and choke blade set up. The old lever and bode fit perfect and worked perfect

Excellent product
Replaced this carburetor in my generator total time was less than 20 minutes from start to finish. Two pulls and 12 year old generator works like I just got it out of package.

Great carb for the price
I bought this carb for my TroyBuilt 5550 generator after searching for replacement parts for the original Nikki carb. After searching for about an hour, I bought this one to save time. It arrived and had it on and running in about 5 minutes.
