This isn't the best rack out there by a long shot. The tubing looks a bit on the flimsy side with sheet thickness seeming a bit thin. In fact one of the tubes was dented at end with no apparent damage to the box, so I'll have to blame quality control on this, not handling. I was able to unwarp the tube-end enough to be able to connect it to the other tube as "instructed". The instructions were actually trash, but I'm my engineer mind was able to figure it out pretty easy. As other reviewers have stated, the "twist" nut that was include was not the correct thread. The U-bolt is a M6 (metric) and the nut was a 1/4" (SAE). I got a set of M6 wingnuts from Home Depot and it mated just fine. SELLER, PLEASE CORRECT THIS, IT'S AN UNNECESSARY EXTRA EXPENSE FOR US. The U-bolt was also about 1/4-1/2in too long on each side and would gouge anything laid on top of them. I cut about 1/4 off to be sure, which took a bit of time with Dremel rotary tool. This would certainly depend on the thickness of your crossbar. If you have thicker crossbars, this may not be necessary. Others have complained about rusting, I haven't seen it yet after a week of use that include the rack being rained occasionally over two days. So far I haven't seen any rust at the joints. It's now hanging on my garage wall so we'll see if it develops over time. I may spray some Rustoleum at the joints at some point to prevent this when I have time. The rack did survive the trip full of cargo with no issues and looked fine when I finally took it off the car roof. So for the money I guess I can't complain, though I would have gladly paid a bit more for a better product if it would have been shipped to me on time for my weekend camping trip. I installed this basket on my 2019 Acadia. Mounts easy to cross rails and plenty of space to load gear. This unit has a center section that can be left out if you want a smaller basket. I did use the center piece and had no problem attaching it to my rooftop cross bars. The 4” sides made it possible to install a 6” rod tube on the side and still not touch the roof of the Acadia. All in all this seems like a fair price for a bargin rack. It was delivered damaged, i was able to re-round the hole with no issue. It isn't square so dont expect this thing to just slide in like butter. Pictures 2,4, & 5 show the flaws. Picture 3 is a good weep joint for moisture. They do include bice rubber caps to keep the rust from running. I would suggest silicone on the slip joints the through bolts and the caps. The U-bolts and wing nuts to secure it are garbage and petrude pretty far. I would suggest cutting them down and using a Nyloc nut. It's pretty light maybe 35-40lbs so shoul be able to be installed by an average male adult. All in all for a touch over 100$ this is a great buy. ... show more

Instructions are terrible on how to assemble all the parts. I had to look at the image of the *assembled* rack image to figure out how to assemble this. Gave it a little common sense and it came together. Mounted this thing onto my cross bars and had to take it off to re-do the screw mount assembly since I did it wrong (no instructions). Took about 1 hour to fully install. Not bad for a 1st timer and some Lego experience. ... show more

Could've been 5 star ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ But it came damaged. Dent in the upper rail. And one of the fasteners that fasten it to the roof would not thread because it had melted rubber on it. I was able to fasten it with new bolt and nut. Looks good on my Honda pilot. And Carry's stuff just fine also, it isn't noisy at all . Don't even know it's up there. ... show more

    • Design flaw. damages what you pack
the hardware that actually attatches the rack to your vehicle sticks up in four laces in the basket. these screws stick up a few inches, meaning they would be difficult to dodge and would scratch/tear whatever you put in the basket. it can be worked around but it is annoying and I feel like it could have been avoided, or they could have at least included some rubber caps. ... show more
