Used this unit to set 100 fence posts to depth of 2 ft, using both 6" and 10" bits. Unit has plenty of power, enough that the operator needs to beware of the torque if the bit binds. The bits provided are pretty mediocre, working well in soft soil but struggling against hardpacked clay. I did have minor issues with the bit seizing on the output shaft and needing to be hammered off. I resolved by pre-lubricating both mating surfaces prior to installation. Beware that the mixing ratio for the oil/gas is 25:1, instead of the more prevalent 50:1.

We purchased this 72cc 2-stroke auger for landscaping around the cabin, and it’s performed beautifully. It digs through tough soil easily, saving so much time and effort compared to doing it by hand. The engine is strong yet manageable, and the build feels rugged enough for frequent outdoor use. Installation was straightforward, and switching bits is quick and easy. It’s become one of my go-to tools whenever we’re working on the land.

Has a 20mm drive, but my country commonly uses 7/8". I had to make an adapter. I regret not just going to Harbor Freight. Runs great though, always starts, digs like crazy.
