I really wanted to like this light because it was the only one I found that could adjust the pressure on the clamp. I was concerned about damaging my MacBook screen using ones that had a spring clamp. I had the return my original purchase because the bolt in the base was too short to screw into the light. Reordered and I was able able to screw in the base but when tightened, the light was turned backwards. After some McGuyver moves, I was able to correct it. ... show more

I needed to improve my poor lighting situation but didn't want to go all-out on fancy equipment, as I'm not online for work or school all day. I was attending video conference meetings in the dark--or in too much light! My lighting was so uneven because I depended on natural lighting during the day, or overhead lighting at night. I bought these for macro photography where I want to use a variable multiple sources that are adjustable. They work OK for this purpose BUT...you buy cheap, you get cheap. The cord connection at the ring is coming apart and the mounting parts are just a waste of time. The light has a shoe and a 1/4" hole so I'm using small rig parts to make my mounting solution. I had hopes for this little budget ring light, and loved that it could clamp onto the computer, but when I plugged it in and pressed the power button, it just flashed and then stopped... then took 30secs before I could press it again...all to do the same flash and stop. Returning.
