Actually, I almost canceled the order after reading reviews, and asking AI (COPILOT) about "Aiolo"'s reputation as a manufacturer. Long story short: Aiolo apparently repackages/rebrands and then resells Seagate drives (maybe others...). There are various free utilities (again, AI recommended, for use with Windows 11) to find out the EXACT manufacturer and hardware specs, including usage/power-up time (was low, i.e., just product testing before drive left factory). I ran all of those after receiving the drive, and clearly this was a Seagate 5TB drive by another name... Drive is running fine now for two weeks, with about 3.8T on the 5TB drive so far, updated every few days via backup scripts. Obviously, if you read the bad reviews: Some will fail, regardless if it is or is not a known brand; sometimes probably because of power surges etc. (all mine are plugged into a powered laptop dock, plugged into a power and surge protector).

Poor connection and unstable item; i purchased the 5TB one in December 2024, and after only four months use, the fatal error occured and lost all the important data; suggesting to purchase bigger brand. The price is not cheap which is about $130 which is even experiecne than Seagate and WD; very disappointed.

All I wanted was a blank hard drive. I initially bought a Samsung. When I plugged it in, there was a bunch of Samsung software crap already on it. I took it back and bought this from Amazon. Works fine, no BS.

When I started using, it hit all the specs it promised. On my third usage it dropped write speed by 90%. It ended up that data portable hdd cable failed. I put one of my old hdd cables on it, and it is back to specs. Hdd cable is cheap. The storage space, and read/write speeds @ this price is priceless!

Never before have I had this much trouble with an HDD. Windows 11 didn't like it, Ubuntu 22 didn't like it, and Ubuntu 24 didn't like it. I purchased this as a media drive for long term storage and occasional use. During file copies it would require me to restart the exchange of most of the large video files I attempted to put on it. During playback it repeatedly gives Dbus errors and halts play. I reformatted it once and it worked in Ubuntu 22, but not 24. Haven't tried it again in Windows 11, but these errors would affect all operating systems. Purchased in November '24, it's now March '25, and the drive has become almost completely useless to me, and of course, beyond it's 30 day guarantee. I've no intention of contacting the company or purchasing anything from Aiolo Tech again. May '25 update. Unit has become completely useless and will not mount into any operating system. Run away from this one fast. I'm sick of losing data. I couldn't even get it all backed up.
