The quality of these attachments are far below the more expensive and/or established brands. That said, all of the accessories do work. I would strongly caution against the lens cap. The lack of quality control has plastic shavings and pieces that randomly fall off. I will probably take a deburring tool to the edges and a pick and tweezers to remove what I can and then just save the cap as an emergency backup. The tulip and the hood are the two accessories I was most interested in. The hood works well, with all three positions holding in place. There are some quality issues in the molding process, but it’s functional. The tulip is slightly larger than the others I have owned. Being able to reverse it to stow it out of the way is a great feature. These accessories are going in my hiking setup - so the quality issues are not that big of a deal for me. If you need affordable starter accessories and/or accessories you can afford to lose in the field, these are great at their price point. If you want quality accessories that will last, spend a few extra dollars. ... show more

First off, the cap and shades fit a lens with a 58mm filter thread smoothly. No binding or other issues. I have tried the package out with a 18-55mm standard kit lens for a Canon digital SLR. The petal hood does not vignette at 18mm, so no worries there. The rubber hood at its full extension (the extension designed for telephoto lenses) does vignette from 18mm to about 25mm on the same lens, but that’s to be expected. I just wanted to see where in the zoom range it would stop vignetting. The middle extension on the rubber hood is okay at 18mm. These hoods are all made from plastic and rubber but the mounting rings seem well made as does the cap. The mounting locks (don’t know the proper word) on the cap can be squeezed to secure/unsecure the cap from either the sides or the middle of the cap. Being able to do this from the middle is convenient if you have a hood installed on the lens where side access would be a problem. So far, the only real issue I have with this set is that the cap tether is not attached “out of the box” and I found it to be quite tedious to install. The “instructions” on how to do this are not clear (to me) and the included photos were very difficult to get any useful detail. The tether is black and the cap is black, which for me, made seeing detail difficult. Better lighting in the photos would largely fix that. What I had to do was cram the string-end of the tether into the tiny hole in the top edge of the cap with this little tool they give you and then fish it out of the little slot beneath the hole with the same tool. Then the elastic end of the tether can be put through the resulting string loop and pulled up against the cap. This is certainly secure enough to hold the cap. But as I said, I didn’t get a lot of help from the supplied “instructions”. I won’t dock the set a star just for that, since maybe I’m a bit dim, but there certainly could be a bit of explanation and better pictures. ... show more

    • OK for a couple lens hoods + cap & lanyard. No flocking on petal hood. Tight fit for petal hood.

I am using these for my Canon EF 50mm F/1.4 lens, one of the same lenses pictured in the product advertising; and also on the instruction manual included. The lens hood threaded on the lens no problem, and the ring that attaches to the lens is also threaded to allow for filters. I saw no vignetting present when using the petal hood, with no other filters. The petal hood is reversable, and detachable- it uses 4x steel spring loaded balls to secure the lens to the threaded ring, and casn rotate 360 degrees when installed (though not sure why you would want to do that). It is sometimes hard to remove or install; this is a bummer with the 50mm L/1.4 lens since it's weak point is the front element getting pushed in to deform the rails that the focus glides run in, breaking auto-focus. No flocking on the inside of the hood, either- but since the Canon ES-71 II is not available easily now, this is an OK alternative.. one star off re: these negative items. The stock Canon lens cap becomes hard to use when the hood is installed, so the center pinch cap comes in handy. I'm not using the large rubber hood or the lanyard for the cap, the rubber hood is much larger in diameter than the lens and cannot detach like the petal hood so it makes storage difficult / tedious. ... show more

- The rubber collapsible hood is great. - The lens cap is also fine. - The tulip lens hood, not so much. The rubber hood screws onto the filter threads and has 3 levels of extension so it can accommodate wide angle lenses. The lens cap is your basic lens cap. The tulip hood is a two-piece solution to allow you to reverse it for storage. There is an inner ring that screws onto the filter, and the tulip portion snaps on and off with a several spring-loaded balls. While this is a reasonable design, it is quite stiff to get on and off. When mounting to a zoom lens, I would take GREAT care when popping it on and off so that no stress is pushing/pulling on the lens since it could damage the lens gears. Another solution would be to break in the spring-loaded balls by popping the inner ring on and off a bunch of times while off the camera to potentially reduce the amount of force required to do so. I haven't tried this yet, but I'll report back when/if I do so. Even with the issues of the tulip hood, the value from the rubber hood and lens cap makes this a good value. ... show more
