The brushless motor provides enough rpm and torque to shave most woods without skipping or bogging down. I used it to plane tree trunks to make footstools/bench. I started out with the smaller battery (1.3 Ah) which required frequent charging, but after switching to the 6 Ah battery the project progressed pretty quickly. The planer is exactly as described and easy to use. The price is a good deal, especially compared to the Dewalt model I had my eye on. We'll see how long it lasts. ... show more

I have owned a number of DeWalt 20V cordless tools and they are very easy on the eyes. This planer has a very high speed and although I have only used it a few times it has worked better than I expected and is as good as my previous Bosch electric planer that was stolen.
