Installed in a 2018 Jeep Renegade, this unit was plug and play with the correct dash frame and harness, filling the opening cleanly. The 4 gigabytes of RAM and 64 gigabytes of storage are a solid spec, giving smooth multitasking and room for offline maps and media. The screen is bright with quick response. Running the microphone and the backup camera was the only extra work, and the install ran a little over an hour. First boot was quick and the interface is the familiar Android home screen. On the road the wireless CarPlay and Android Auto connect fast and stay connected, and the RAM keeps the interface smooth when switching between navigation and audio. GPS locks quickly, Bluetooth pairs immediately for calls and audio, and the steering wheel controls mapped after a short setup. The touchscreen responds without lag, and the sound improved clearly over the factory unit once I set the EQ. It handled everyday driving without any hiccups. Several weeks in it has been stable with fast boots and no freezes or reboots, and the mounting is solid with no rattles over bumps. The screen has stayed crisp and bright. For a Renegade of this generation that came with a basic stereo, this is an inexpensive upgrade that brings smartphone integration, navigation, and a backup camera together in a clean install. I bought this for an older truck that still had the original radio, and I didn't need anything overly fancy. I mostly wanted CarPlay and a screen that was easy to see while driving, and it's done a good job with both. One thing I really like is that it still has physical buttons and a volume knob. I've used a few touchscreen-only radios, and I always end up missing real controls. Being able to turn the volume down without hunting for an on-screen button is something I appreciate every day. The interface isn't loaded with a bunch of extra features, but that's honestly part of the appeal. Everything feels straightforward, and I was able to figure it out without digging through menus or reading the manual. If I had one complaint, it's that the screen isn't the highest resolution I've ever seen. It's perfectly usable for maps and music, but don't expect it to look like a brand-new factory infotainment system. For the price, though, I think it's a fair tradeoff, and I'd still choose this over a cheaper unit with no physical controls. ... show more
