I installed this head unit to replace the factory radio in an older Dodge, and it’s exactly the kind of upgrade these vehicles needed. The screen fits the dash properly without blocking vents or controls, which is huge if you’ve dealt with the odd in-between radio sizes Chrysler used in the mid-2000s. Once installed, it looks factory-clean but feels completely modern. Performance has been excellent. The Android 14 system feels fast and responsive, apps open quickly, and having 4GB of RAM with 128GB of storage means I don’t have to think twice about installing navigation apps, music, or other utilities. Wireless CarPlay connects reliably and starts up without fuss, which makes daily driving much nicer. Bluetooth calls are clear, and music streaming has been stable with no random dropouts. I also appreciate the built-in GPS and Wi-Fi support. Navigation works well even without a phone connected, and steering wheel controls mapped correctly so volume and track changes still work as expected. The backup camera integration is another big plus and makes parking a lot safer than relying on mirrors alone. Installation does take some patience, mostly due to routing wires and getting everything seated just right, but nothing about it felt unreasonable for an aftermarket stereo. Once it’s in, the result is a smooth, powerful, and well-integrated system that makes an older Dodge, Jeep, or Chrysler feel years newer. Welcome to another of my radio reviews. Vehicle it's for: 2008 Dodge RAM 1500. Fit in the dash with no issues. Carplay speed of achieving connection: Okay, takes about 30 seconds from turning on the car. Android Auto speed of achieving connection: Also okay, takes about 30 seconds from turning on the car. Display: bright enough to combat sunlight, but color washes out a bit, and there is some glare. UI responsiveness: Quite poor. But it's affordable and upgrades the look of the car enough that it may be excusable for your needs. DSP/sound quality: Average, not as good as stock unit, muddier with less defined treble and more chaotic mids. The sound adjustments are buried in menus and too complex to use while driving for quick adjustments. Installation: easy, included all harnesses, and Youtube tutorials for the car aren't too hard to follow. Ownership duration: Installed for over a month, works great so far.
