  • Decent enough for a game room.
I picked up this TV to use for console gaming. At 43 inches, the TV is decently sized and is great for a small game room or office despite its features being a bit dated. The TV itself is a bit thicker than most modern LED television sets and is heavier than I had expected, weighing in at about the same weight as a more modern, thinner, 65" TV that I purchased last year. Image quality is good, no better or worse than any other 1080p TV that I've seen with a 60Hz refresh rate. Good enough for most console games, though more hardcore gamers with modern consoles may prefer to check out other 4K capable options. Inputs are limited, with only 2 HDMI ports, which are easy to access and use. I am using this TV for several consoles through. large HDMI hub and have had no issues. At its core, this TV runs an android operating system. Users familiar with other, similar TV OSes (like Roku or Apple TV) will find this easy to use and intuitive, though to use most applications, you will need to connect this TV to your home network, which other reviewers have warned against. As a budget TV for use with HDMI devices I would rate this as just "good enough." ... show more

  • It's good. It's basically a 43" Android Tablet.
This TV is a rebranded KTC 43GF. I got this mainly for casual gaming, so I don't care much about the Google software that runs the TV (although I use Chromecasts/Android on some of my other TVs). For reasons that should be obvious, I don't plan on connecting this TV to my home network. The thing is, this TV is completely controlled by Android/Google TV (Android 11). In other words, the built-in Google stuff isn't simply an add on—there's literally no other interface. Everything, including the picture adjustments, is controlled through the Android interface which is why I say it works like an Android tablet. Fortunately, you can just switch the input to HDMI and ignore most of the Google stuff. The picture looks good, with good color and not much backlight bleed. The resolution is 1080p, which is fine for the console gaming I do. The refresh rate is 60 Hz, so nothing fancy. You can set the TV to game mode, which is the layman's term for "turn off all image processing for best performance." I connected my Nintendo Switch, and it worked fine with no obvious input lag. According to the specs on KTC's website, this TV uses a DLED backlight. Grays are fairly even with only minor irregularities around the edges of the screen. This isn't noticeable unless staring at a static gray pattern. The backlight is bright, too. The specs say the contrast ratio is 3000:1. I didn't see any dead pixels. Connectivity-wise, you get two HDMI input ports, one of which supports eARC for connecting to a sound bar. It also has composite video in, but it uses that weird 3.5mm video connector you often find on old camcorders that carries video and stereo audio together. It also has a Toslink port for audio output, an "EARPHONE" port (3.5mm stereo audio out), and an Ethernet port. You've got some USB ports as well. Since the TV runs Android, you should be able to play media files from USB using VLC or some other video player app. And yes, you can put the TV into Developer mode and should be able to sideload apps like you can with any other Android device. The sound is what you'd expect from a TV in this price range: it's tolerable, not great, so you'll want to connect a soundbar to that eARC port. Even an inexpensive one will be an improvement. A remote and batteries were included. The remote is actually a Bluetooth device (just like with other Android TV devices), and requires pairing when the TV first starts up. My main gripe is since the TV runs Android exclusively, you have limited ability to adjust the picture. There is a picture mode called "Personal" where you can adjust things like brightness, contrast and sharpness. Fortunately, these settings are applied even when you switch back to game mode although it's not clear if game mode is actually reducing the latency like you'd expect. I should also mention the TV crashed and rebooted on me once during testing. It hasn't happened since. Overall, I'm pretty happy with this. The picture is good, and it works perfectly well for my gaming purposes. ... show more

  • Great looking picture, good volume but tinny sound
This 1080p TV seems to be of good quality. There are 2 HDMI inputs and even an adapter to handle older RCA inputs. The remote is of great quality and has a lot of features. The setup was fast and easy. I chose to do a standard setup instead of the Google account setup. I was able to quickly go on youtube and listen to some music. The music was clear and the volume can go up without distortion. There is no bass or low sounds. I even tried the equalizer and when turning up the bass frequencies it became muffled. It is mostly the mid to high tones. On the plus side it does have both an audio jack as well as an optical spdif so connecting to a soundbar or stereo is easy and improves the quality of sound. The picture looks fantastic. Hooking up my computer, I had to change a setting to PC mode in order to show the whole computer screen, I ran some other tests with movies and computer programs. Everything looked great and performed well at the 1080p @ 60hz. Some features I was unable to test because I did not hook up my google account yet. I will update once I decide to do that. There are some controls for video and audio settings, but not a whole lot which makes it easier to use and adjust. The media player is only for devices you hook up to the USB ports. It would be nice if the media player could pull from my DLNA media server directly, but thats a personal setup I have. Connections were easy for both 5gig and 2.4 gig wireless networks. The voice control on the remote also worked well. ... show more
