  • Great little engine
Size: 212cc Style: 4-Stroke Engine
I ordered this for my Coleman CT200U-EX because HF was out of Predator Engines within 100 miles of me and this had a two day delivery and i kind of like the color. Plus it got good reviews. But after shipping was delayed twice on this engine, I was able to locate a Predator 224 at my local HF. I installed it and was very pleased with it's performance, but I had already painted my bike blue in anticipation of the Built Hard Engine and the Predator didn't look the great. Then this guy finally showed up and I swapped it in. Started first pull, is a little quieter than the Predator, and seems to perform just as well as the 224. Plus it looks great. Very happy with this purchase so far and would not hesitate to buy another if needed for another project. ... show more

  • Great little motor
I replace a briggs and stratton motor on a 20" push mower, using the one tapped hole and enclosed bolt, then tapped two other holes 3/8" x 16 to reuse original mounting bolts. i removed keyway that was on the shaft and old blade adapter and bolt worked perfectly. The original brake cable fit and worked perfectly. I bought an $8 throttle cable and installed it to complete the switch over. The engine holds 1/2 qt of engine oil. When checking oil using dipstick, be sure to read instructions. You check engine oil with the dipstick without screwing it into the engine. I filled with gas, pushed primer button twice, and engine started effortlessly with first pull and runs smooth and quiet. It has much more power than the briggs motor I removed. After running engine for 5 minutes or so, I changed the oil. Note you must flip mower upside down to drain oil, there is no drain plug. So far I am very impressed with this little motor. ... show more

  • Set up not friendly
Size: 420cc Electric Start Style: 4-Stroke Engine
Pros: Good Price; Runs well Cons: Battery not included; Oil not included; bolts&nuts to secure engine on the chassis not included; bolt set to secure pulley on the shaft not included. THE WORSE AND MOST RIDICULOUS: cable to connect battery and engine not included The customer needs to figure out how to install. When one add the cost of all extras and labor required, it gets close to the price of well known and reputable brands. ... show more

  • Power to Spare....
Size: 420cc Electric Start Style: 4-Stroke Engine
I pulled an old Sears Suburban SS16 could been a 18HP originally, with an Onan twin out of the weeds, been sitting around for 15 or 20 years. I needed to do some dirt work on the drive. Wasn't worth spending a $1000 on to get a twin engine, I wanted an electric start too. Looked at reviews, and didn't want o spend extra $100 to get one from the china tool store locally. So chose the 420cc Bilt Hard, drilled the holes bolted it out and started on the third pull. I still hadn't hooked the electric start up yet. Starts easily. I've got about three hours onit so far, maybe a bit more, on the third tank of gas. Wouldn't know this classic from 1976 didn't have the 18HP engine on it, I've run at only about half throttle and it has more power than traction, and its dozer blade just pushes, hit a solid rock etc and the engine doesn't bog down, it just goes to spinning the tires and diggs. Time will tell how it holds up, so far, no complaints mechanically. The one gripe is there is nothing in the paperwork about wiring up a battery I seen, no specs on what the charging circuit or if it even has one, That is the reason for the four stars on install..... I would recommend the 420cc Bilt Hard to anyone looking to repower a classic garden tractor. It revived an old workhorse... Will it power a mowing deck? I can't say as I never intend to put a deck on this one, its just for gardening and dirt work.... ... show more

  • Go ahead, do it, not sorry.
I am not a mechanic, but a hospital pharmacist, however I like machines and I like to buy something and have it last, and last, and last. My old Wrangler Rubicon has 200 M on it and runs like a kitten purr still...it may be my last car. My old Badger rototiller engine gave out after years of use. Should I let go of $600 for a new one or try a new engine?....that is always a gamble. I bought this Bilt Hard....it fit the rototiller after a few new frame attachment holes and a 5/8 inch pulley since my old one was 3/4. I had to fool around with this since I put too much oil in and also fouled my carburetor by turning the engine upside down. But I figured that out and blew out the carb and it runs great and has the power to till my garden. It took a little work, if yours is a straight replacement it will be easy. It runs perfectly for me. ... show more
