  • Good engine
Size: 212cc Manual Start
Perfect replacement engine for my tiller. Starts and runs great.

  • Great bargain!
Size: 212cc Manual Start
I bought this to use on my old Brave logsplitter, as the 30+ year old Briggs finally gave up the ghost. I was dubious, but the price between this and a new brand-name motor was nearly $500! It installed easily, even though one of the pump bracket holes stripped out. Aside from that, it was a seamless installation. It starts right up, usually on the first pull. It runs the splitter great, with power to spare. Oil changes are easy. I have nothing bad to say about this motor, and would buy it again. ... show more

  • Power to Spare....
Size: 420cc Electric Start
I pulled an old Sears Suburban SS16 could been a 18HP originally, with an Onan twin out of the weeds, been sitting around for 15 or 20 years. I needed to do some dirt work on the drive. Wasn't worth spending a $1000 on to get a twin engine, I wanted an electric start too. Looked at reviews, and didn't want o spend extra $100 to get one from the china tool store locally. So chose the 420cc Bilt Hard, drilled the holes bolted it out and started on the third pull. I still hadn't hooked the electric start up yet. Starts easily. I've got about three hours onit so far, maybe a bit more, on the third tank of gas. Wouldn't know this classic from 1976 didn't have the 18HP engine on it, I've run at only about half throttle and it has more power than traction, and its dozer blade just pushes, hit a solid rock etc and the engine doesn't bog down, it just goes to spinning the tires and diggs. Time will tell how it holds up, so far, no complaints mechanically. The one gripe is there is nothing in the paperwork about wiring up a battery I seen, no specs on what the charging circuit or if it even has one, That is the reason for the four stars on install..... I would recommend the 420cc Bilt Hard to anyone looking to repower a classic garden tractor. It revived an old workhorse... Will it power a mowing deck? I can't say as I never intend to put a deck on this one, its just for gardening and dirt work.... ... show more

Put a log spilter works good so far

  • Pretty good! Update!
I have to say that this little engine works great. I got this to replace my weak 2.70 HP engine on my push mower and I wasn't disappointed. It runs smooth and it quiet compared to my old engine. Also burns half the gas my Briggs used. I was pretty amazed by that. The brake cable fit right up and I had to install a throttle cable since my old one was set from the factory. And you have to thread the mounting holes in the engine. I threaded mine 3/8" NFT. But I am very satisfied so far. Only thing was the shaft was about 1" longer than my original which was fine in my case but might not work for others. Definitely would recommend. 1 year Update: still runs great but burns oil pretty bad. So buyer beware. Keep your eye on the dip stick. ... show more

Great engine, good power without being modded, only had to adjust the idle, fill with oil and after first start inow starts first pull with little effort. My hubs just rehabed a Murray Explorer go kart for street use with this engine and have not done any mods We have it driving a 30 series torque converter with racing belt and green spring in the driven pully to a jack shaft to a 420 roller on a 60 tooth sprocket. is 4 x 4 wheel hubs on a 1” live axle with golf cart wheels and tires Our new toys flies! ... show more

  • Awesome replacement engine
Size: 212cc Manual Start
It's a great engine. I had a different brand engine on this tiller that had extremely low service hours on it but I failed to take adequate precautions and allowed the carburator to totally rust up. Ordered this last March and didn't actually get around to installing it until last fall. Just left it setting inside the shed with no gas. Broke it out above 3 weeks ago and actually had to use old gas in it because of time constraints. It fired and ran just fine with the old gas. Got back down there this past Sunday with new non ethanol gas with a fuel treatment added. Fired right up on the first pull. It's got a ton of power so I'm keeping it pretty low throttle and no strain whatsoever. Tremendously pleased with this engine ... show more

  • So far runs like a champ
Size: 212cc Manual Start
Was skeptical at first, however decided to take the chance. Arrived relatively soon and was packaged pretty well for shipping. Came just as photo appears. Started within one or two pulls, did have a noise in lower end that was concerning and sounded like if the motor was over revved would come apart, could be reason for the one review I seen. I let idle for a good while and as it broke in the sound dissipated to completely gone. Afterwards I applied more throttle to it and installed the torque converter. All seemed to go well, starts real easy and idles very well and ran it a full speed for a short while. I also did not think the vibration was really that bad for a small engine. I think where "some" of the mixed reviews is they are not giving enough break-in time. Just like any new motor comes with no oil and not broken in. So you have to take your time and add the new oil, just over a half a quart and I added some mystery in there just cause, may void a warranty but I will take the risk. Let it idle and keep at low RPM until it has time to break-in. Would have given 5 stars but hesitant since it has only had a an hour of run time and the throttle is really stiff on it. Did get a little better with some use but still I will need to go in there and loosen it up before it can be used. Does take the UNF bolts from the converter if that helps anyone. ... show more
