I bought these because I wanted something more than straps for my car top box. Pros- works as expected and through the test drive seemed to hold the cargo box on very well with very little vibration or movement. The u bolts and the rest of the hardware was solid. The straps inside also helped hold everything down. Cons - no installation Instructions. Don’t get me wrong, for my purposes this was a DIY install all along. However, aside from that no instructions given on which Way the u bolts should face ( one side is clearly different than the other) and no suggestions how the inside pieces should go either. The biggest complaint which kept this from being all 5 stars were that the nuts inside the top pieces could easily be knocked loose when installing. To avoid this, When unscrewing for the first time, pull the nuts all the way to the bottom so they won’t slide when installing.

The straps need to be longer

Product is usable but suffers from lack of quality control. One nut was poorly threaded and does not glide on and off the U bolt easily. In addition, one nut does not stay in its plastic cradle and is challenging to keep in place when using the clamp. If you can find nothing better, this set of clamps is usable and does attach firmly to 2016 Chrysler minivan rooftop crossbars. It will, however, not be quick to use since one or two nuts (out of 8) are either not well made or fixed in place. I use these clamps to secure a rack made of square aluminum tubing, to my crossbars. The price is reasonable, if you, like me, find yourself buying many parts to build a product that mimics an item impossible to purchase due to Covid supply chain shortages.
