  • A fine damper but is always open or always closed. - not adjustable.
Style: 8inch
I should haev done more research on this before ordering. Duck sixzE was correct, I just assumed it was variable vent, rather than than 100% or 100% closed. There is no in-between or indicator of it;'s actual position which I need for fine tuning for residential upper/lower floor outputs. But as it is, and if you don't need fine tuning or feedback as to its position, the baffle does rotate 90 degress and back make a tight seal with it's silicone gaskets when closed., in my 30-40 tests. It works with the 24V outlet of your typical HVAC (and possibly your doorbell too). It's stainless steel, not magnetic except the motor and some mountings, and it will surely be the shiniest piece of hardware in your whole A/C system even after years of use. It's very "handsome" and shame that I can't use it for my purposes. . ... show more

  • Scam! Not directional at all.
Style: 6inch
This claims to be a 3 wire motor but it is only a 2 wire, omnidirectional motor. This causes it to keep going past open or closed and start going the opposite direction. A complete scam. No wonder it tells you not to take it apart!

  • Very nice duct segment, pretty good damper assembly.
Style: 8inch
Good bits: * Stainless steel tube duct, with a welded seam. Very solid. * Thin damper minimizes resistance when open. * Can run on less than 24 volts to run quieter. * Rubber rim on damper to seal against duct wall. Bad bits: * Can only be fully open or fully closed, is not designed to be variable. You could add such an ability with extra hardware, but it's not designed to support that. * Can't tell whether the damper is open or closed looking at the duct. You'll need to check your controller. * Motor unit is screwed directly into steel duct with no inserts or nuts. Seems reasonably solid, but they clearly cut a corner there. Full stars, it is what it says, and is reasonably well made. ... show more

  • Well constructed and functional
Style: 4inch
I have an April Air fresh air intake controlled damper that I installed many years ago into the supply duct of my heat pump. It worked for many years but finally the motorized damper burned out. I bought this to replace it. It has much better construction than the one that was built into the April Air system. This one is stainless steel and the Damper seals very tight. It runs off the same voltage but for now I have a manual switch to control it. When I have the time I will either hook it back up to the April Air controller or integrate it into my Home Assistant smart home control. Bringing fresh air into my home makes it much more comfortable. Technically when you turn on any exhaust fan in the house you should allow for a source of replacement air. I will set this up to also open when any of my exhaust fans, such as a bathroom fan or a cook top range exhaust fan is turned on or even when I light a fire in my fireplace. So far this damper is working fine. How long it holds up, time will tell. ... show more

  • Good damper, nice seal.
Style: 8inch
Ok, this damper is not meant for control use. It's meant to open and close. This is how I used the damper. I want to use outside air to feed into my AC. In my area, around 6 every night, there is a cold breeze. It's hard to get that breeze indoors. Even with the windows open, it's a no-go. So, I tapped into my supply vent and installed a flex with a filter going through the attic to an opening. However, I do not want to get outside air when it's hot and I'm using the AC under normal conditions. So, I installed a smart plug and programmed it with Smart Life's app to open the vent when the temperatures outside are under a certain temperature. For example, if the outside temp is less than 69, open vent. It worked flawlessly. Now, I just turn on the fan feature and get cold, clean air to come inside, which really does cool off the house better than the AC at night. Very good damper, really seals shut when not in use. ... show more

  • Motorized Ventilation Damper
Style: 6inch
I wanted to like this motorized damper. I have a specific need to supply filtered fresh air while my exhaust fan is operating and I had high hopes. A first blush it looked good. It had substantial construction, built from stainless steel and well finished. then I started noticing the defects and/or inadequacies. There is no way to determine the position of the damper when installed. The end of the damper shaft rides in a cup that covers the end and is not exposed. Every competent HVAC mechanic always cuts or files a mark or line in the end of the damper shaft to indicate damper position. You are eventually going to have to know this and without that slot/mark you have to drill an inspection hole or disassemble duct work to determine the damper position. Stick around, it gets worse. I put the damper on the bench and hooked it up to 24 v AC. I used a "Variac" and my Fluke to assure the voltage was between 23.90 and 24.12 v AC. It started reluctantly and with a lurch it stroked to full open. I started closing it by energizing the terminal marked "OFF" . I took the voltage off the terminal to see if it would hold position in an intermediate state. It did stop and held but when I started it again it reversed direction. After closing it the rest of the way it would no longer start and I measure 24 v on both "hot" terminals when either one is energized. I suspect a solid state controller has headed South. ... show more

  • Very good Motorized Duct Damper
Style: 6inch
This is a great item. I had actually setup an air intake with a manual valve that I could shut off if desired, but it is located in my attic and not the easiest thing to reach. I saw this and upgraded to the electric version. It was very easy to drop a wire down to a wall-switch and use it to power and control this valve. It works great. the valve seals tight. The stainless steel construction makes this an excellent part that will be very durable and free of corrosion. This is a great value for the money for a quality damper. ... show more
