Vise jaws are lifted from the vise 'ways' about 2mm on just one side. They did this to get the jaws somewhat square to each other. The jaws are also showing deviations in the center even when zeroed end to end w/ a dial test indicator (~.001" concave) . Deep and plentiful scratches on the bottom. Most of that I wasn't too concerned about but the vise jaws being lifted so far off is just not acceptable. I have several similar vises of various sizes and none are perfect but they serve their purpose at my skill level. This one was a bit of a bummer. I will contact the seller and update my review accordingly. Unfortunately, I threw out the box in my zeal and honestly I just want to get my cnc cutting something already ... show more

    • Better than other Chinese, but not a Kurt
I got this for my Bridgeport milling machine. I was unsure of the quality but I ordered it anyway. It's heavy, the casting was ok. The moveable jaw mine had a ding in the top that doesn't affect function. I disassembled it and mapped on my surface plate, it was only out about . 001 at one corner, otherwise the top and bottom are parallel. I scraped the bottom perfectly flat and then scraped one top corner down and all is good. I did tap the fixed jaw holes deeper and replaced the Chinese bolts with longer American ones, the removable jaws are very hard, I milled little steps in the top region of the jaws with a carbide dovetail cutter and now I can clamp stuff up there without parallels. I use the steps more than anything. It's a good vise for the money, but it's no Kurt. Oh yeah I milled the 45 degree v that pulls the jaw down so it was flatter and that helped too. I look at stuff like this as more of a vise kit than a finished ready to use vise. If your a home shop guy and have time to blueprint and finish this vise, then it's a good deal for you. It can be made into a very accurate, very decent vise. Better than most of the Chinese milling vises that come with rotary base. If you don't want to fine tune it and expect it to be perfect out of the box then you need to buy a Kurt vise, not this. It's a good vise kit, replace some bolts with better longer ones, fine tune it for your usage and it's a pretty good bargain. Especially if you don't have the money for a new Kurt and live in an area where used Kurt's are rare to non-existent like me. ... show more

Not very good. The vise jaws are extremely brittle and broke on first use. Also, vise mounting holes aren’t even close to parallel.

Not within specifications. Completely unusable. Even the keys do not fit in the slots. The jaws are not the same size. I expected something a little off since this was a chinese vise and would have limited quality. But I did not expect it to be unusable.

This vice is decent for the money. It needed the cam adjusted to actually hold the workpiece down on the parallels. You must be careful as the jaws aren't hardened adequately. They can dent extremely easily if anything is dropped on them. Also, the material is unsatisfactory as it started to develop some mild surface rust even with oil still on the pivoting face. ... show more

Nice vise for what I am using it for. I have used one similar to this for 20 years and this one works just as well. Nice and solid, smooth and clean. Might want to grind or smooth the edges of the jaws as they are right off the mill and sharp. Very pleased.

This isn't a kurt vice. That being said, it's a pretty good value. The back jaw is square to my machine, fairly flat on the ground surface < .001. I wish the jaws provided were ground flat and not just the top of the vice. Great for a hobby.
