  • Fun Little Galaxy for the Car or Home
This projector is a surprisingly fun gadget for the price. The four different film discs are a nice touch especially the stars and moon which look really good against a black headliner. I used it in a Navigator and the projection covered both the front and back seats easily when placed in the center cupholder. It definitely works best at night or in low light but creates a really cool atmosphere. The rotating magnetic head makes it easy to aim and adjust and the auto off feature is a smart addition so you do not run the battery down. USB C charging is quick and convenient and it stays cool to the touch even with extended use. I have used it in a hot car and it handled the heat with no issues at all. Brightness is just right for a chill vibe without being too dim or overwhelming. It adds a nice mood without turning your car into a disco. It is also very easy to use with simple controls and a smooth rotating design. It is not a serious piece of tech but that is not the point. It is just fun. Five stars for fun and curiosity and even impressed my father in law who is a Boeing engineer. • Really sturdy but very limited
Works great on home ceilings, I imagine it'll be even brighter and crisper in the car. The focus knob is nice, it really helps get it crystal clear. I love the design. The cup holder base is really cool, and the removable top is a lot of fun. It's great that it's rechargeable. Anything that saves on wasted batteries is awesome in my book. The plastic is thick and sturdy, the design will hold up well over time, and anything you can do in the car to entertain kiddos is a great thing. My only issue is what someone else mentioned before - the limitations of having only 4 projector slides with no movement/interaction available, and no way to buy more. The milky way, the asteroid, the northern lights, and the moon - are all cool slides. But after a few minutes, it's like... so what? They don't move or have anything interesting to look at beyond that one, individual picture. Changing the Pic is cool and easy, you just slide it out and slide another one in, making sure it's going in the right way (if it sticks, take it out and turn it around). But after the 4th slide, it's like... what now? Why build this SO WELL when you can only ever look at the same, four, static pictures? My grandson will get bored pretty quickly of this, even in the car. But the projector is so cool! You could have a zoo pack, a planets pack, an ocean animals pack, a habitats pack, a seek and find pack (and other visual car style games), you could do so very much with this! Why stop at 4 slides? It's like spending $30 to build a beautiful, intricate book cover, and then only filling it with 4 pages. This is a cool projector, but I just have to ask... why? I think for the price, unless your kiddo is just so absorbed with the moon that a static picture would do them fine for months on end, maybe look for a different option with more available picture packs. I really like this, I just can't rate it higher than a 3. I love the stars and moon and even so, I'm already bored. My grandson will last even shorter than I did before losing patience. It doesn't seem to get very hot and it's perfectly quiet, so maybe as a nightlight, it would be okay. It's just that it's not marketed as a nightlight, but a car projector, and as a car projector, it falls a little flat. Built well, cool idea, but sadly pretty boring. ... show more

  • Bright ceiling projector with 4 slides to project
You get a roughly 3-1/4 inch diameter black plastic ball projector that attaches magnetically to the top of a four-inch high insert that fits in a car's cup holders. The insert has three slots holding slides to project out of the projector, with one loaded in the projector itself. Comes with instructions, microfiber polishing cloth for the optical parts, and charging cable. Charging light shows red when charging, green when charged. The photos are of the slides projected on a ceiling and one projected on the headliner of a car, as well as a view of the projector sitting on a table while the ceiling shots were taken and of it in a cup holder while the car shot was taken. Good stuff: Three of the pictures are pretty (I could do without the flaming skull rock falling to Earth, but your kids might love it!) and the projector is sharp and very bright. You can focus the image with a ring on the top flat face of the ball, it can be made pretty sharp anywhere from two feet away to 25 feet away. The image looks crisp and attractive when aimed and projected. It's easy to turn on and off and adjust position/aim and charge. It fits well in a cup holder, and if you use it in the house, it has a non-skid base on the cupholder insert and sits nicely on a table or mantle or shelf. Possible issues: The light is VERY bright...which gives an excellent projection. They caution repeatedly about not looking down the beam, and I think that's an important caution. ESPECIALLY if you were using it in a moving car and someone were to rotate the ball to aim at the driver's face. That could easily (IMO) cause a wreck by temporarily blinding the driver. The light might be bright enough to damage your eyes on its own. Also, as you see from the table pictures, if it's sitting in the house on a table the projector is high enough that hardly any inadvertent light hits the operator. BUT in the car, at least ones I can test on, the cup holder is low enough that even if it's adjusted as far away from the driver as possible the driver gets a fair dose of stray light. I think this means it should NOT be used in the front seat cup holders of a moving car. Bottom line: Does what they say. Attractive pictures. If used in a vehicle I think it ought to be used in the rear seat(s) if feasible or the vehicle should be stationary for safety reasons. Even in the rear seats, there could be a danger of bouncing it off the rearview mirror into the driver's eyes if the car is moving. It is bright enough and wide-angle enough to fill the ceiling of even a good-sized room if used indoors. ... show more
