The system works great for home use and business use the picture is relatively clear night vision works good the setup is actually pretty easy as comes hardcoded out the box ips are non standard in the 172. Range so it is a issue if you plan to connect to camera remotely directly it's not for you the way you do it is connect remotely to the nvr system that the cameras are connected to on the computer I use VMS app there are others if you know what you are doing and setup a DNS forwarder like noip.com etc through nvr or a router /VPN downsides the picture quality could be better and hardware zoom or tracking but the program does have software zoom . This is perfect for home monitoring etc as well aswatching out for family members that may need assistance and are not able to help etc by remote viewing without a subscription cost etc. CompTIA A+Certified I.T Technician , EMS VOLUNTEER , AMATEUR Radio Operator. The images are fine (we have 8 cams). The interface is okay, not great but not bad either. I live in a typical cement block "Florida-style" house (new in 2020) of ~2000sq.ft. I mounted the cams under the eaves. Almost always 1 or 2 of them fail to connect (via wifi). Even the one that do connect don't update the onscreen view rapidly enough such that a car passes on the street and a few seconds later it shows up on the screen (after the car has gone by). The mailman can knock on the front door before I can see him on the camera aimed at that door. I do not have any WiFi boosters. I bought these after doing a lot of research but in the end I think that most of these lower priced sets (8 cams + an NVR via WIFI) are very similar. I suppose the mere (visible) presence is a deterrent so I guess I suffer through with these. I'm not sure if I would do any of this again or not. Looks like someone from the factory saw this review and have reached out to try and help. Time will tell if anything improves or not. The mere fact that they noticed the review and are trying to help raises my previous 3 stars to 4 stars. If it ever works well then I MAY raise it to 5 stars; but again, time will tell. Sorry but despite some help from SMONET the system still does not work. I did everything they told me to try. I frequently have 1 to 5 cameras not connecting and even when all the view ports are "showing" camera views sometimes they take seconds to hours before updating. The system is nearly useless as it doesn't perform as advertised. I do not recommend this system. Edit: After numerous emails and phone conversations with Smonet support then by adding a Smonet Extender (wifi repeater/bridge) then the cammeras are doing much better. The Smonet tech support was top notch.

This is my second Smonet security system and the camera quality is great. Setup and install was easy. I had an issue with email alerts but tech support ccontacted me andgot me squared away within 12hrs. I only view it on my phone or tablet so the Internet Explorer browser requirement wasn't an issue for me but may be for those using a PC so I didn't knock off any points for that. I wouldn't recommend this system for folks who are going to use it strictly on a PC until they support other browsers. Update - after testing I found that Chrome can connect and view video with limited functionality after setting chrome://flags/#Block insecure private network requests to "disabled".

This is junk. Why does Amazon sell items so poorly made from China? Setup is a nightmare with instructions lacking and the UI looking like something from when I programmed in 1980. No wonder every review requires tech support to get setup. The device itself runs hot and loud and consumes tons of power probably more than my original tube TV. Would be fearful based on other reviews talking about disconnects that once I climbed the roof and ladders to install the cameras would disconnect and I would be climbing to reset them. In my opinion these are garbage.

I have been looking at a home security system for awhile and decided to buy this system for the reviews. Once I a received the system, I was able to install all the cameras and system in half a day. I'm not a rocket scientist, but I was able to connect everything and download app to my phone and see all my cameras. Took me about an hour to mess with the system to get it working on my phone. But it works perfectly. I went on vacation a day later for about a week. Its amazing to see who comes to your house when your not around. Picture perfect, I can see the person's face clear that comes to my door. The alerts on my phone to notify me that someone is walking up is awesome. I'm so glad I got off my butt and got a home security system. The price for 8 cameras is great. I have an extra camera that I hook up whenever we leave so we can check out the cats in the livingroom. Dont hesitate to buy.

ETA 6/13/23: The company contacted me and offered to refund my entire purchase price plus ship[ping, so there is that. While it was a hassle, I was made whole even though the system is garbage. At least they made it right, so I am somewhat satisfied. I still would not recommend this system to anyone. (original review starts below) bought this to replace a Smonet system that was dead due to lightning. This is nowhere near the quality that the old system was. The cameras won't stay linked to the base, the app won't stay online to view, the tech support is always busy and is available only after 5 pm pacific time. The cameras are crap. Grainy and really cheap. YOU can buy better camera systems for only a few dollars more. I'm sorry I bought this setup, buy something else, you can't do much worse for a wireless setup than this crappy system. If my woman hadn't hadn't thrown the box out I'd return these things. Seriously, buy something else. ANYTHING else. There are no redeeming qualities about this system. Absolute crap.
