The base is supposed to illuminate the globe. The power is from a standard USB source and a cord is supplied. The USB jack was loose when I inserted the cord. The product did not work at all and unfortunately poor quality that we are used to receiving.

Everyone else wanted to know where I got it from, and when it's lit up it looks even more impressive. The crystal ball has some good weight to it and the base it sits on is very sturdy.
