I find it difficult to give an overall star rating for these binoculars. The stated specifications are garbage 1/5. On the other hand, in terms of value for money, the product is impressive and rates 5/5. As far as performance relative to other binoculars, 3/5. I frequently lead bird walks and it is useful to have a spare pair of binoculars to loan to participants and at the price I thought these looked too good to miss. On my first test I was impressed by the clarity of the image. The central third was almost as good as my $600 binoculars. The periphery was fairly sharp but suffered from pin-cushion distortion. When looking at birds in trees this is barely noticeable, but when looking at buildings the walls appear distinctly curved. There was little chromatic aberration which is a common problem with cheap optics. The accompanying photo shows a hand-held image taken through the binoculars with a cell phone – note the curvature of the right hand wooden panel, but generally sharp image. I am not sure why 30X60 is stamped on the body as clearly they are not 30x magnification and 60 mm objective lens diameter. Maybe this is a case of “lost in translation” from Chinese symbols or used as an eye-catching specification to attract buyers. 30 x 60 binoculars would be practically useless unless mounted on a tripod and the light gathering power would be poor (exit pupil = 2 mm). These are 8x23 and it would be helpful if the supplier said so. The actual specifications that I determined are: 8x magnification, 23 mm diameter objectives which gives an exit pupil of ~3 mm which is fine for use in daylight hours (where our pupil diameter is limiting at ~2 mm). The closest focusing distance is about 11 feet (3.3 meters). The eyepiece diameter is 12 mm and surrounded by a rubber eye-shield which projects 6 mm from the lens (suggesting eye relief distance around 10 mm). Contrary to the specifications, the eye-shields are too short to fold back and given the small lens diameter, these binoculars are not suitable when used with glasses. Even if you already have a pair of binoculars there is no reason not to have these as a spare pair to keep with you at all times – they are lightweight, compact and easy to focus, and cost less than a lens cap for expensive brands. Note that there are several companies offering what appear to be the same “30x60”binoculars. Some are priced as low as $3.99 but the one I tested had noticeable chromatic aberration. It is possible these binoculars are manufactured in the same factory, then undergo some form of quality control to assign the selling price.

I got this set of binoculars to replace some very cheap ones that i have. I was a little skeptical because these too were priced cheap. However, these are great! They are super clear and for the price ... just can't be beat.

These binoculars are very lightweight to hold. I use them to watch the birds in backyard. They focus is very easy to use and moves into focus easily. The strap is very lightweight as well. These are just right strength to see hummingbirds up close at the feeder. My husband has heavy binoculars that I didnt like and was so excited when I found these. They come with a nice light case for easy transport. Great price for the quality and the "zoom" they give!

Before I go any farther, remember this: These are small binoculars. That’s why you would be buying them. Having said that, when I first got the box I thought “Wow, these are small binoculars”. Then, when I took them out of the package and out of the bag they came in, I thought “Wow, these are small binoculars”. Like some others, I was also confused by the “30x60” designation. They’re definitely not 30x mag (8x does seem to be closer to actual). And they don’t have 60mm lenses. I guess the “30” refers to how wide one of the tubes is, and “60” refers to the length of the tube. That seems about right (see attached pic with tape measure beside it). They feel like they’re fairly well built with decent quality materials. I would guess they wouldn't take a lot of rough handling, but I don’t plan to test that. The advertised FOV is 7.2 degrees. At 100m, that’s about 12.6m. I didn’t measure it specifically, but that seems to be about right. The view through the binoculars is quite good. The lenses aren’t as high quality at light transmission as something like Nikon, but you’re not paying a Nikon price, either. They exceeded what I thought they would deliver. I liked that I could do adjustments on the right eye to let me get both eyes in focus. They also have the ability to roll down the rubber eye cups if you have eyeglasses, but I didn’t need to use that. Overall, I’d rate these as quite good, especially considering the price. They’re a nice choice if you’re looking for something very small and very portable and don’t need a wide FOV.

These binoculars come in a nice little pouch to protect them. The size makes them a great option to stash in a pack, in a pocket, or even on your belt. The rubber eye cups are comfortable, and the binoculars are easy to adjust. I especially like that you can focus each eyepiece separately to match your vision. The optics are clear and I couldn't see any distortion. They come with a neck cord which works great if you are standing still and need to use your hands for something else, but it is thin and probably wouldn't be very comfortable while hiking. They are good quality for the price and I will probably buy a second pair before our next camping trip. (Who wants to fight over the binoculars when wildlife are in sight?)
