I bought this as a solution for an area (the stairs) of our house where my wife goes up and down several times a day, working from home in her upstairs office. We have no lighting and no electrical outlets available in the stairs, so it's unsafe for her to make her way up and down those stairs for the first few hours each morning (she normally starts work just before 7:00AM), so I at first had her use a small flashlight to carry with her for that. I must confess that I was rather mad at myself for not thinking sooner of a rechargeable light that can be attached to the wall with a magnetic strip when I stumbled upon this device. What you get in the box are ten items: 1) two rechargeable light units, 2) two magnetic strips, 3) four double-sided adhesive strips, 4) USB-C charging cable, 5) printed instruction sheet The first thing to do with this is (of course) to plug the cable into a USB port or USB charging power supply, then into whichever light unit you intend to install. The LED charging indicator on the light unit will be red until fully charged, then the LED will switch to green. You wil next need to put two of the double-sided adhesive strips on one side of the metal mounting strip, but first be sure to peal off the clear plastic protective cover on the side you intend to attach the adhesive strip to. This is the one small reason why I didn't give this five stars, because I found it very difficult to pull the backing tape off of the other side of the adhesive strips, so much so that it took me nearly five minutes with each of the two strips getting that off so that I could put the metal strip on the wall in the stairs. With that said, once I was able to get that backing tape, the strip attached very securely on the wall. The light unit then stays firmly on the metal strip thanks to the strong magnetics on the back the light unit. Once it was attached, I was pleased to say that the motion detector that automatically activates the light is sensitive enough to come on as soon as anyone comes within about ten feet, then it stays on for roughly ten seconds after the person going by is beyond its motion detector, a good compromise for the shutoff delay. Another nice design feature of this light is that it will not activate with enough daylight for anyone to not need the light, as it is later in the day; so that feature helps conserve battery charge. Finally, there is a three-position sliding switch at the same end where the charging port is to control how the light operates, with each labeled position working as follows: G = normal motion detector operation enabled OFF = light will not come on at all ON = light stays on constantly Probably most people won't use this switch except to put the switch in the "OFF" position for those occasions when taking it down to charge it so that the light doesn't switch on while charging. As far as the brightness goes, this is more than adequate, and my wife loves not having to tote a flashlight around any longer. This works very well, so I don't hesitate to recommend it to anyone with a similar lighting need.

I got these lights about two weeks ago and after fully charged, I put up under my cabinets in my kitchen. I love how they are motion detectors and come on very bright and provide much better view in dark places. They are so simple to install and I like that they are magnet and you only put up a flat adhesive magnet bar and can remove the lights easily to charge. I liked them so much a ordered a second set. Now - the reason for the 4 stars instead of 5. These lights are awesome and I really love them. What I don't love is how often they need to be recharged. They last a couple days and this is on the motion use, not steady on. This is my only negative. Maybe there's a manufacturer comment that would help. I'll adapt to the constant charging - I love them!

I've only installed one so far. We put our shoes under a kitchen desk when coming home and on dark/dim mornings I have more than once accidentally put two different shoes on. now with this light, I can stop looking so stupid. I think I'll install the 2nd one using 3m picture hangers. the kind that velcro together so if I want to adjust the position it's easier. even under a desk, it detects motion if you just walk by, not just when you reach for something

I found the link to these lights by chance from a how-to youtube video for changing the lightbulb under your microwave above your stove. I know that sounds crazy, but believe me it was not as obvious as you may think. It ended up that the how-to person said that sometimes it ends up being more than just a burned out bulb, and he found these magnetic lights to work even better. Since there is metal underneath the microwave, you can position the light wherever you want. Of course if you are going to cook something creating a lot of steam and heat, you can adjust the position of the light very easily. I don't use the motion detection setting for obvious reasons, and I have it positioned so that it is so easy to turn on and off. I don't know why I didn't think of this myself, but I had no idea that I could find one that: (1) the magnet really sticks/holds tight; (2) the light is actually bright and doesn't glare; (3) it is easily RECHARGEABLE; and (4) I didn't have to pay "an arm and a leg"! I bought more of these, and I plan to replace my OLD plug-in florescent under cabinet fixtures. These lights are fantastic (so far) and I highly recommend. So many uses to explore.

The illumination, charging, and installation is very easy. It is hard to see the red light when it is charging but the green light is bright when it is fully charged. My only complaint is that the motion sensor is disabled in the daylight. I would have preferred it to work regardless of the ambient light. I use it to illuminate my record turntable which is in a nook and so is shadowed in the the daylight.

Used these in a side by side refrigerator and freezer whose stock led lights stopped working and are ridiculously expensive to repair. We took a chance as these are not rated for low temperature usage. Our freezer is set for 0*f, but they work well, coming on when the door is opened, staying on as long as there is movement then going off 20 seconds after the door is closed. (Yes, we peeked). The double sided tape and magnet system holds well even on the slippery plastic walls. Been over a month of usage and haven't needed recharged. So far so good.

The brightness of the lights is awesome! They've really helped some of the darker corners in the house. The only downside is if the surface you're sticking them to is textured in any way, the stickers won't hold. We have one over the oven & another one over a bookcase. The one over the oven is doing great. The one over the bookcase won't stay. It keeps falling down. The difference is one is a smooth surface & one is a textured ceiling. But outside of that we're pleased with the product & plan on buying more for the kitchen area.

I bought these lights almost a year ago--they are perfect for what we need and where they go. The plug is a little annoying, but I knew what we were getting into. I thought the battery would last a little longer, but we get maybe a night's worth of light. So great for when we have parties. NOW, a year later, weird things are happening with the light. I've been away from the house for a good 2 months and since I've been back one of the lights keeps turning on by itself. Remind you, this light hasn't been charged in 2+ months...and it's in the OFF position. What the hell is that about? I wake up, turn it off (somehow because technically it's in the off position), and then it turns back on again! Weird.
