My Dyson V-7 would start running for about 5 seconds and then die. Duh, I’ve had it for about 3 years and NEVER cleaned it!!! And I have dogs and a cat, so you know it always fills with hair. So I YouTubed my vac & followed the instructions and WOW!!!! was my vac FILTHY!!!! It was one of those moments where you think, “Man, sometimes I am really dumb.” But in my defense, my wife vacuums so it just didn’t enter my mind. She thought the battery was dying but of course it was way overdue for a cleaning. Really, it was almost completely the filter that was clogged so I rinsed it in hot water and the dirt just kept flowing out of it. I let it dry overnight and the next day my wife vacuumed the about half the house with no problem before the battery ran out. So I ordered these and then replaced the filter and my wife re-vacuumed the WHOLE house before the battery died and needed recharging. And it increased the suction power by about another half. So instead of wasting time cleaning these nasty filters, just replace it!!!

I have seen many criticisms of Dyson’s claim of a lifetime filter and the fact that they sell replacements. The fact is if you wash the filter you cannot use the device for 24 hours because it takes that long to dry. With a replacement, you have a filter to use while the original dries. In addition to that I own the original Dyson DC03 floor vacuum cleaner and after a few years and washings the filter turned into mush and lost its shape. I assume this will also be true for the stick vacuum filter.

To remove the filter that came with my Dyson vacuum, I easily removed it with two fingers. It took a screw driver to pry this one out. Also, the fibers are too thick causing the vacuum to have less suction. I do wish that Amazon would carry the original filters that comes with these Dyson vacuum cleaners.

Bought these replacements hoping that a new filter would stop that horrible smell. YES! I threw away the original one and now I have a second one to replace the one that is being washed. I can let it dry out for a month. Works like the original to the best I can tell. No apparent loss in vacuum power etc.

So I actually didn't realize (I guess I didn't think about it) Dyson made replacement filters. These were perfect, easy to pop in as replacement and easy to clean. We have two small dogs, and after over a year of using the same filter, that doggie smell was just not rinsing out. I popped in a new filter as soon as it arrived and wow, what a difference! And the two-pack means we'll have a back up waiting the next time the doggie smell doesn't wash out!
