I love the design of this book. I specifically bought it because it looks magical. You can write in pencil, pen, and probably even ink/quill since the pages are very thick. The pages are also purposely non-uniform, so expect some weird edges and surfaces, and especially corners. The cover is a little thin for my taste, but i'm sure that can be fixed by adding a protective coating. The latch is also super cool, but you sometimes have to pull the latch away from the cover in order to close it. It doesn't affect anything. Very good value, very demure, very mindful

First off, contrary to other reviews, my book came mold/ smell free. The only thing I could smell was the hand made paper, which is normal. The stone isn't as nice as seen in some pics of this book. It does look like painted glass. The black cover is nicely detailed, doesn't smell BUT is easily scuffed and will bleed off it gets wet. Like with another review recommending modge podge, I used Golden matte medium (with a bit of glitter mixed in) to put a protective coating over the outer cover to keep the block dye/stain from running which helped a lot. I also used a sharpie to blacken the raw edges before using the matte medium. There's no wonderful leather smell. However, I'm thinking adout either using leather scented air fresheners or a leather essence oil to rub into the raw side of the cover and see if it'll hold the leather scent. The paper, which is parchment in color, handled inking and a bit of color wash without buckling... so far, the paper seems to be bleed-free... each page is pretty thick too. It's a cool book but be ready to care for it like you would prep a painting or about to build a model kit etc. It needs some love protection-wise.

I purchased the red variant as a prop for our pirate roleplay. I needed an ancient book which once belonged to a formidable sorcerer in the distant past. And the moment I opened it, all I could say was "Perfect! Perfect, perfect, perfect!" The latch lock on the cover definitely makes it look like a sorcerer's protected book of spells. And inside it was, much to my surprise, vintage style weathered pages, making it appear to be centuries old. And I just happened to be looking for a book with a gem in the middle, so I was tickled pink to find this. I highly recommend it for anyone who wants that mysterious, eerie magical kind of style to their book.

This is exactly what I wanted, though the stone on the cover was an extra I didn't know I wanted until I saw it! You should know before you buy it that the pages in this are heavily aged and may even look dirty, and the size of the pages may vary slightly; this is by design and it's a feature I wanted, but some may not like that as much as I do. The pages are thick with a cottony finish and a feathery soft deckle edge. They look like they're a few hundred years old. It has 92 sheets, so 184 pages of writing surface. The cover is not distressed like the pages, so looks new and feels smooth and sturdy. The stone on the cover is a little smaller than I expected, but looks genuine. If it's not, then it's either reconstituted or a high quality fake. I'm delighted with it!

This is a beautifully made leather journal with detailed embossing and thick, high-quality paper. The cover design is elegant, and the stitching feels durable enough to hold up with regular use. The pages have a slightly textured, antique look that works great for journaling, sketching, or writing with fountain pens. The only downside is that the blue color is noticeably lighter than the photos online — it’s still pretty, more of a soft sky blue than a deep lapis tone, but not quite the rich shade shown in the listing. Otherwise, it’s a lovely handmade piece with a unique, old-world feel. The value for money is good considering the quality of the leather and the number of pages.
