Don’t be afraid to buy renewed. Came in new condition and work perfectly, plus u get a 90 day warranty if they didn't. Sony probably has the best noise canceling technology which can really help u relax and is a godsend for travel. I have big ears and my ear actually fits in these (other headphones they don’t) which makes them much more comfortable and these are also probably the lightest headphones on the market. The case is big but it’s slimmer than foldable headphones cases which actually fit in my personal carryon on bag…better than a smaller and “fatter” case. Which is the only time I’d use a case. Audio quality is great. Pairs to two devices and controls are intuitive. What really separates Sony from others is all the little extras like adaptive noise canceling and ability to adjust ambient noise that gets filtered. Also has EQ adjustments which make a huge difference depending on what you’re listening to or if you’re watching a movie. I actually like the 360 format….for me it sounded a bit better but it’s not mind blowing. Are these the best headphones on the market….nope. But these are the best travel headphones and the best ANC headphones that have a more than satisfying sound quality. ... show more

I purchased the Sony WH-1000XM5 Wireless active noise-canceling headphones a few months ago and have been using it actively since then, and I must say, they have completely blown me away! From the moment I put them on, I was transported into a world of uninterrupted audio and unmatched comfort. These headphones are an absolute game-changer, and here's why: Price: Although they may cost a few hundred bucks, they provide top of the line wireless ANC quality without spending thousands. Design: Minimalistic yet intriguing design. I got the silver version which makes it pop out against my hair. My girlfriend absolutely loves the look of the headphone and will even wear it as if it's an accessory. Sound: I personally was expecting better quality but nevertheless the audio was still very good. The active noise cancellation really isolates you into your own bubble where you hear only what you are listening to. Comfort: Extremely comfortable since its over the ear. Soft yet firm ear muffs that cradles your ears. Battery: More than happy with the battery, I would go multiple days with 2-4 hours of use each day on a single charge. Sometimes I would even go over a week without needing to charge. Companion App: Nice companion app that has a ton of features. I'll start off by saying I definitely recommend these headphones for people with ADHD. As someone living in a dorm room with a roommate, it's definitely increased my ability to focus on my work. I often get overstimulated when going outside due to all the noise but it really helps to drown out the noise. The ear cups are very comfortable and the top cushioning is fine for short periods of time, but when using these headphones for several hours, the top of my head starts to hurt due to the weight of the headphones. My biggest complaint is that the headphones randomly go through bursts of disconnecting from my device. Every once in a while, I'll have to reconnect the headphones over and over for around 5 minutes as it refuses to stay connected and I'm not sure why. The rest of my bluetooth devices do not have this issue. Overall, I like the noise suppression and the sleek design of the headphones and I think it would definitely work for people who use the headphones for only a few hours at a time but if you are planning on using it for extended periods of time, it may not be for you if you have a sensitive head. ... show more

This “B” (renewed) version of the Sony 1000/5’s is probably one of the best values for a top quality Bluetooth headphone currently available. It’s a no-frills presentation with the Sony “B” when it arrives. Brown Amazon box, zippered headphone case in a plastic bag, 90 day warranty info, the plug-in cord (yes, you can plug these in AND use them as Bluetooth phones!) and the power cord - see the photo. For a really in-depth review of these phones, refer to John Darko’s review of them on Darko Audio on the web. John’s review covers all the finer points in great detail. John’s video was recorded on 10/11/22 and compares the Sony WH-5000XM5’s to Bowers and Wilkins Px7 s2’s which are also $399 - the same price as the new Sony model. My take on the Sonys - - they fit well and are comfortable for a few hours - they can be used as a corded phone by leaving the power off and just plugging them in - the fold flat but they don’t fold up like the version 1-4 did. That’s not a big deal for me, I travel with ear buds, not over ear phones. - the app has a LOT of flexibility for adjusting the sound and system. - the controls work well on the right ear cup. Volume up and down, play/pause, track back or advance to name a few. - audio evaluations are inherently subjective. I have a pair of Meze 99’s Classics that I use daily as well. The Sony have great bass, the Meze phones do as well. The mid-range on the Meze seems more refined but I’m using the Ifi Zen Can amp tuned for the Meze 99’s so it’s not really a fair comparison. - not a mark or any visible defect anywhere on the “B” version that I bought. They look and sound brand new. For rhe $130 off off list for the “B” versus new, I don’t think you can get a better sound quality and app flexibility from a closed, over ear cordless phone for the price.
