This is a decent replacement remote that gets the job done. It has a good range and the buttons feel sturdy enough. However, programming the remote can be a bit tricky if you follow the instructions provided. The instructions are not very clear and can be easily misinterpreted. I ended up having to find a video tutorial online in order to get the remote programmed correctly. Once the remote is programmed, it works well. The range is good and I have never had any issues with it opening or closing my garage door. These were easy to set up, once you realize where the "Learn" button is. The push button on the overhead unit is green, but the TINY learn button is tucked away to the left and is is yellow. The garage serviceman charged me a LOT, and he didn't climb a ladder to push buttons--he used the remote programmer on the wall . I couldn't figure how to do it as he did, so I climbed the ladder. If you change one unit, the units that were still working stop working; thus, you have to program old and new units at the same time. The only difference I can tell from the old remotes is you seem to have to hold the open/close button on the romote a few seconds longer to get the door to open. ... show more

Like a moron, I scheduled both cars for maintenance on the same day. The car we rented needed a garage remote, but it had been long enough after programming our cars' Homelink in-car remotes that I'd lost the original remote that came with the door. A quick Internet search for LiftMaster Model 8500W door openers brought me here, and I ordered the 2-pack. Follow the instructions included with these remotes, and programming them to the opener is straightforward. Now that we've got the cars back, I'll put these in the junk drawer where they belong so I can find them again the next time they're needed. These work perfectly and instructions were right on spot for my application (Craftsman GDO w/ green learn button). My openers were manufactured in the early nineties, so I would caution others to realize that openers from this era do have a limited number of remotes that can be programmed to them. Mine will only accept 5 remotes (including remote keypads). If you are purchasing these so you can use remotes in multiple cars, keep this in mind. ... show more

I just velcored them to the wall next to the door and also just inside the side door of the garage so no matter where I am in the garage I can open or close the door without having to go to the main button.
