I’m very pleased with the 3.4 Cub Large Home Safe. It’s exactly what I was looking for to store important documents, cash, jewelry, and small electronics. The safe feels heavy and well-constructed, which gives me confidence in its durability and security. The fireproof and waterproof features were a big selling point for me. While I haven’t (and hope never to) test those limits, the seals and build quality appear solid and reliable. It also comes with both a digital keypad and backup keys, which is great for added peace of mind. Inside, there’s plenty of space and some shelving to help keep things organized. The interior light is a nice touch too, especially when accessing it in low-light areas like a closet or basement. Overall, it’s a great investment if you want to protect your valuables at home. There's a lot more room in this unit than I really needed and anticipated but it's better to have too much than not enough, right? Immediately I wanted to secure this to the wall to protect the contents from even myself! Since it was my first time with a bigger safe it was tedious but very easy as one might imagine. Overall build is nice, options to open it, separate locking compartment, hooks for keys, moveable shelf and the included "fireproof" pouch is adequate. The latter however, I'm skeptical of, so for now it's just just keeping some documents of sale and titles dry from my underground cave's excess humidity. For storing money I opted for some highly praised fireproof pouches with reflective strips and stow them behind the little door. Here's hoping some dumb schmuck doesn't decide to light the neighborhood on fire regardless. The only criticism I have is the knob. Plastic? Really? I'm not expecting every safe made has a brass or (at the very least) steel handle or whatever but c'mon. Plastic gets brittle over extended periods of time, especially in very dry environments or so I've been told. I'd have at least settled for aluminum if not the same metal used to construct the whole safe even if it meant tacking another $5 onto the price.

If you buy this "safe", be sure you understand what you will receive. This is a locking steel box. I guess calling it a SAFE is accurate, but calling it FIREPROOF is very misleading. There is no insulation and/or double steel wall to protect the contents from the heat they would be exposed to in a building fire. Steel should not burn in a house fire so the box is probably fireproof. The contents of the safe would be exposed to extreme temperatures. I purchased two of these "safes" for my mom and nephew to secure documents and valuables. This is not acceptable for the intended purpose. Furthermore, I don't think it is possible this steel box could be waterproof. Both cartons have been thrown away so I cannot return. I will keep one of the steel boxes for storing cleaning chemicals I want to keep away from the grandchildren. My nephew chose to keep his but will not use it for the intended purpose. What I consider a true safe should have fire and water ratings. For example, UL Classified in a fire for 1 hour in up to 1700 degrees F and ETL Verified water resistance to protect valuables in up to 8 inches of water for up to 24 hours. I should have done more research and been more careful! Buyer Beware.
