When comparison shopping realize there are seemingly only 2 actual producers, Polaris and Mid-America. besides the Big Box *M store which produces 2 sided shutters. Mid-America will sell under many different names and so will Polaris. You can tell who produces the particular ones you are considering by the direction of fake grain in the "routed" channel...These Mid-America/Ekena (actually came in Mid-America boxes) have a horizontal grain in the channel. I felt that these were more sturdy than the Polaris made ones. Pricing applies to apples, buying Mid-America under this Ekena brand saved me $300

These match our shutters on our house perfectly, so we decided to install on our shed. The nails do protrude on the inside of the shed wall, so you may want to get shorter screws if that isn’t acceptable to you. These were easy to install and look quality - should last a long time.

The backs were not stained. Even though the backs of the blocks will not be seen once we hang them on the wall, it conveyed a "homemade" quality. It seems that it wouldn't have taken much extra time or materials to fully stain them. This was the case with every block, so it wasn't that just one block was missed. We purchased a block with an "H", but an "M" was sent instead. My wife thinks she can work with this, but it won't be exactly what she wanted to accomplish.

These faux shutters are lightweight and easy to install. It comes with the fastener to attach it to the exterior house wall. I have stucco walls so I had to predrill the holes with a masonry bit. Once the holes were drilled both on the shutter and wall, all that is left is to hammer the matching plastic bolts into the wall. It looks great and adds a classy look to our house.

The media could not be loaded. We just got our roof done and we decided there was too much brown in the front. So we went on the expedition of finding the right color. This company has many colors and sizes. We picked the blue that was as close to our roof as we could get. They turned out beautiful! Super super easy to install. They are well made, the color is all the way through making it harder to fade. The price PER PAIR was insanely inexpensive. Our old girl built in 1910 by coal miners got a beautiful facelift.

These were a good replacement for my hurricane-damaged shutters, look great, but are pricy. Check their website first for tips on how they should frame your windows (spacing, etc.), then measure carefully. They are very light, easy to handle, but it helps to have some assistance to steady shutters well drilling holes. The plastic screws (fasteners) work well, but make sure your pilot holes are the full length of the screws. If you have to remove a screw to re-drill, it's easy to damage it. So don't tighten completely until all screws are in place and shutter is in correct position.
