I have a similar but bigger case and it’s been four years and batteries are still well there. Just don’t loose the key and keep them safe somewhere. I originally bought this to keep a few cards in but its color captured the interest of the kids. We all use it. It came with two keys, but the dial pad works with batteries just as fine. When the batteries died, we didn't bother since we like having the keys better. This is great when you want to keep something guarded, but unable to lift excessive weight.
